🏈 Team update 2.0

Ok I'm going to do my best to channel Phil Steele and make a prediction about tomorrow's scrimmage. If it's more of a true game-like situation where the D is not given a big advantage like Boz said, the big winners will be Morris and Barnett. They will do significantly better than Coker and Bateman and the coaches will be hard pressed to keep Barnett out of the lineup.

Has anyone thought of this: Coker ran the wing T or some similar crazy old-fashioned super run-heavy offense in high school. Could be we're going to run a lot of read option stuff to try and take some of the decisions off of Coker. I know it sounds crazy and I'm not saying it's gonna happen, but Gus took Nick Marshall and made him into a winning SEC quarterback with such a system. That's a small miracle itself and Coker can't be any worse than Marshall. Why couldn't Kiffin follow that plan?

If a guy is slow at reacting and making decisions the read option would be just about the worst thing for him... you have to read the defense and quickly react to what the defense does in the read option. Most of those plays have three options (run with the back, QB draw, or a pass) so yeah that would be a disaster if the claims by "insiders" that Coker has trouble reading defenses and reacting quickly are true.

He is still on profile for the toe.

Profile, eh? Since you're going all "Criminal Minds" on me here ...

We know the profile, or modus operandi, of a lot of these guys in the media. When Saban makes comments similar to the one he made yesterday about reporting on who is wearing a black jersey, the chances are very, very high it's a question that led to the comments.

I'm certainly not saying he didn't have that in his back pocket ready for the opportunity. I'm fairly certain saying it was also a message meant for the REC attendees today.

There will be a post count "threshold" to reveal coming as well...but that's several more days out.

Heck .....need to get my count up .... Um.... Roll Tide.

Several generally means more than two, or three.

Easy enough, right?

Today is the day a QB emerges, right?

Then you will have to try and ignore the play cards being held up on the sideline. Im personally not a fan of this but if it helps I could quickly get used to it.
I'm all for it if it helps us get lined up quicker. How many times did we almost let the play clock run out, or have to call a timeout cause we couldn't get lined up fast enough. The answer is a lot! Loved Blake, but that was a huge problem.

Profile is a military term for on a profile from a doctor.

I'm surprised Mullaney hasn't moved up to starter when you compare his previous production and experience level with everyone else.
He will pretty much be a starter. We rotate wr's in and out so much. Plus we will go 4 wr sets at times. For example, Henry wasn't considered a starter but we all know he was. I could list a few more examples. Just look at the returning starters lists in the offseason magazines, and they will say so and so are not returning starters. When we know damn well they are.

No. Coker isn't fast enough to run read option. Barnett yes,and possibly Bateman.

He is correct we rotate so it really doesn't matter who the "starter" is.
