🏈 Team update 2.0

We've now gone full circle. First, Coker was the starter, then Cornwell, Barnett, Morris and now Bateman is making a move. With two weeks to go before the first game, it's safe to say we don't have a safe choice. I imagine we will see alot of 8 and 9 men in the box against everyone.

i'm not really for playing Barnett simply because of age and experience. I think this would be a mistake. Cornwell appears to be in the doghouse so i'm not sure that it is relevant to discuss his possibility of starting for the first game... so we're really talking about the other 3 guys.

Coker has problems with accuracy that don't appear to be changing. that's not the kind of consistency you want. He is, on the other hand big, durable and somewhat athletic. He could give the offense some different dimensions with his size and decent running speed. I like his form and throwing motion but his pocket presence is just weird. He never looks quite comfortable.

Morris seems relatively average in all aspects of play... which could be a good thing with the idea that he won't lose the game for you. flipside is, he is unlikely to go out and take a game back from a team that is beating us.

Bateman is and has been termed the most athletic of the bunch which could be a big asset early on in the season with a newly gelling o-line. He looks quite comfortable in the pocket and his size is good. He has IMO the best throwing mechanics of the bunch or maybe tied with Barnett on that.

I think any of the three guys could be winners for Alabama. Coker is higher risk but also higher return (because he can throw it real far ). Coker may cost us a game or two if he gets on one of his streaks of throwing to the other guys. Morris is the safe bet to run the team without doing stupid crap at the LOS. Bateman is a risk due to lack of game experience and i'm sure the coaches have other reasons for not choosing him up to this point.

RTR.. one or more of these guys is going to spank some badger tail.

So the only thing that we know for sure is we know absolutely nothing for sure. I guess this is what it feels like to be a woman.

Solid post, my only additions would be Morris has a nice arm, he throws the ball with zip. More than people realize. Bateman has times where he looks all SEC and then falls into a pit. He has done this many times, make a push then totally blow it. He is an athlete and runs a solid 4.5. So him being sorta Blake Sims like is not out of the question and I am sure being considered.

If Wisconsin's depth chart is correct, their starting cornerbacks are 5'9" and 5'10". One is a redshirt junior and the other a redshirt senior. They should stack the box to stop the run against Alabama but will leave their experienced corners exposed. The shortest of our receivers to see time against Wisconsin is Chris Black at 6ft. I expect to see several back shoulder fades and jump balls for our receivers. Might get to see alot of Foster (6'2"), Mullaney (6'3") and Kief (6'4")

I've tried to tell people this but let me say it again. Our D is going to rape them all night long. Our team has a huge chip on their shoulder they need to relieve. Wisconsin is about to be whipping boy. Wisconsin keeps saying how they are going to beat us, meanwhile our guys are working out at midnight and 4am while re watching the Sugar Bowl on the TV's. They are in short pissed off.

Oh and don't forget our number 1 receiver Ardarius Stewart

Not exactly the truth. It is his fault. Disagree with him and you'll get banned.
There it is.

His M.O. is to send you a DM and try to goad you into a fight behind the scenes so he can ban you without anyone knowing what or why it happened. Seen it happen to many folks I knew, and he tried his damndest to get me to fall for it. Fuck that guy.

Their best CB, Shelton, is also very slightly built. He's just pretty weak physically.

Ive read that the Wisconsin 3 man front in their defense lacks the necessary size. Depth is still a concern for them up front.

Good point, Boz. I feel the receiving group as a whole could far exceed last year's prduction since the opponent's D can't focus on one guy. Of course, that will depend on someone being able to deliver the ball. Unless Saban really holds back Kiffin, the offense is going to throw the ball quite a bit. Kiffin knows with one more year of developing a quarterback and throwing offense, he will have several coching opportunites for next season. A lop-sided, run-heavy offense won't give him the exposure he will need. I hate to think one of our coaches would put his interests ahead of the team but we are talking about Kiffin.
