5 will get you 10 that Coach comes out of Saturday scrimmage with 2 who will get the 1st team reps from then on. My money is on Coker and Morris. I would also bet Coker and Morris rotate by quarters for the Wisky opener. I think the true competition has been who would be the (2) to Coker's (1)

And on the subject of "Saban's QB's" he has had 3 that he picked. 2 of them helped win 3 NCs. 1 was instrumental in getting the team into the inaugural CFB playoff. I think he has done pretty well

I wish you guys would stop slobbing del Rio's knob. Yes we didn't need to spend a scholarship on him. Ultimately, the argument is moot anyway because the guy has transferred twice, and been a walk-on at all three places, so apparently not being given a scholarship is NOT the reason he left Bama.

Del Rio, who was on scholarship at Oregon State, appeared in three games last season for the Beavers as Sean Mannion's backup, completing 8 of 18 passes for 141 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. Because he was a non-recruited walk-on at Alabama, he still has three years of eligibility, though he’ll have to sit out one year.

Del Rio joins the Gators as a walk-on and the transfer is now official as he is enrolled in classes for the summer semester which began Monday.

SEC teams don't waste scholarships. If that was the issue, he wouldn't be a walk-on at Florida. You're slobbing his name because you're saying he's so good and he left because we wouldn't put him on scholarship. I disagree with both points.

I never said he wasn't walking on at Florida. Your claim that he was a walk on at Oregon State is factually wrong. I just pointed out he beat out some scholarship guys, which justified a scholarship. If you continued to read I also stated I didn't think he would win the job. Not that big a deal

In a Friday interview with The Oregonian, Del Rio, the former Alabama walk-on whom Nick Saban often said was Alabama's third option behind AJ McCarron and Blake Sims, said he was told he would have played if McCarron got hurt.

Del Rio also said Alabama coaches told him he would be put on scholarship after his first season, but ultimately wasn't.

"(Saban) said, 'We’re not ready to make that commitment yet from a business perspective,'" Del Rio told The Oregonian. "He said if he had the numbers, then he would have done it. And I respected that.

Says he was told he was 1st after AJ. A lot of backups seem to think they're the primary backup whether they are or aren't. I believe if he was really AJ's #2 he would have been playing in garbage time. I assume you'll bring up the rumor that AJ was GMac's backup in 09. Let's assume that's true, but it still wouldn't have applied here. They could afford to redshirt AJ in 09 because GMac was still eligible and returning for 2010. If GMac had been a senior in 2009, I believe AJ would not have redshirted, and would have picked up garbage time snaps in preparation for his starting the next year. Since Gmac WAS RETURNING in 2010, we could afford to redshirt AJ in 09 and give him backup snaps in 2010. I think if Saban is sure someone is the heir apparent the following year, they're taking snaps. I don't think he wants anyone completely green in game 1 if it can be avoided. That's the primary reason I believed Blake would be the starter last year before the fall scrimmages even started. It's probably the main thing Coker has going for him this year.

Also, it says he understood on the scholarship thing. And you know what? If he really left because we didn't give him a scholly (which I don't believe since he didn't need one and doesn't have one now at UF), then we didn't need him because he wasn't a team player.

Let's assume you're right that he left because we didn't give him a scholly, then my response is fuck him, and he ended up on a much less talented team still as a walk-on, so it looks like he made a mistake.
