🏈 Spring camp 2025 -

As said above, it's simply one more thing changing with college football that makes you hate where it's all going. This isn't happening without NIL. If it was injury related, it happens years and years before this. Just another reason to add to the reasons you already stated you aren't as bought in as you once were, regardless of you personal feelings on this exact piece of it.
"Bought in as you once were" is an interesting turn of phrase considering how often I've said "It's A-day, you can't take anything away from what you saw."

I think this is clear. Fans are complaining about it not being a fan day while not considering it's a day for improvement for the team they are a fan of...

Makes no sense other than it's a "me thing," versus the team they say they support.

Not just talking about you and this event, talking about you and your comments on the sport and how your interest is waning. You've mentioned a number of times about how you simply don't follow recruiting anymore. You've discussed how you'd rather fish or golf than watch the game or attend one. To each their own, but you have stated this as much, and this event changing is just another data point is all. You don't value A-Day like others and that's ok. But it meant something to them and shouldn't be held against them that they don't like where it's going.

I mean, are college scouts really looking to a practice scrimmage as a determining factor in trying to grab a kid in the portal?

Limiting spring games to me doesn’t really have anything to do with nil. Seems more like a way to limit injuries. Yes, an open scrimmage would be an easier way to scout, but it’s not like the other teams don’t already have a good idea of what a potential portal player is before making an nil offer.

Just my 2 cents.

I couldn’t care less about there being a “scrimmage” for A-Day. Like getting excited for a preseason NFL game….only excited because I’m jonsing for some ball.

Can’t wait for the fall…it really does seem like DeBoer is in a better place than he was at this time last year.
Of course DeBoer is in a better place. He’s had an entire season and off season to get the ship headed back in line.

This time last year was complete chaos around the program. The best coach ever was three months removed and our current staff was trying to replace 30 or so players from the portal and install a brand new system during the spring.

I feel like we will have much more stability this season and maybe we can hopefully eliminate some of those lack of discipline type games.

There's definitely some buzz in the locker room this year. I think the word buy-in gets thrown around a little more than necessary but last year I felt there was definitely some hesitation from some of the players when it came to DeBoer.

This year the locker room feels different and things just feel more normal, less tension, less drama early in the year. All the media circus isn't here, I think we may see a much more focused and prepared team this year.

Also, Grubb is honestly an insane mind, he's going to make some defensive coordinators tear their hair out this year. DeBoer is unleashing the book and Grubb is just so good at setting people up with seemingly mundane plays that turn into a shifty formation and someone breaks free when they run a slightly different route.

Allows you to torpedo your rivals and biggest competition. Stealing a second or third string guy can be worse than a starter. Chances of stealing a superstar is tough, but stealing their backup and killing depth is where these games showcase those guys. You get to see every quarterback Alabama has. Buy off Mack and we are immediately looking at a True Freshman after Simpson, scary stuff.

With hindsidght being 20/20, I really think CKD first season was making sure that his roster didn't deplete to a 50 man roster considering that the entire team could leave since the head-coach left. And we could also see how the team played sporatically, that they, truly didn't buy in. As such, they practiced & played to their competition.

In the very least, I'm sure CKD is happy the "Why'd you replace Saban?" gamut is over. . . . .

I don’t think so. I don’t think opposing teams are actively spending their time trying to torpedo other teams rather than trying to get themselves better. Not like we think at least.

Not surprising the hear. Should been the guy last year too.
Something I found a little funny.

I've never trusted Kyle Henderson. A few days ago he published a bit about how Russell was dominating practice only to follow it a day later with G-Mac saying Ty had the position as QB1. (Something you may have read here, at some point, a few times.)

What kills me is he's actively trying to create QB story lines. #fakenews?

I haven't really paid attention to who or what it is, but I now have this site on Google that pops up on my phone and they really seem to be attempting to drive a wedge between the team and talk about "issues Deboer is facing" with competition and his new recruits. Weird that is just started popping up. Next time I'll track it and get the name. I say that because it's similar what you mentioned.
