Just heard on Jox today there will not be an A Day game this spring… What complete bullshit that decision is…Now it will be a 90 minute “practice”…

A fake ball game versus a legit practice...yeah, seems like a bullshit decision.
A lot of people look forward to the ADay game every year…This decision is made only for the reason coaches are scared Their players will get “poached”, if the have a good game..This started from the other big name schools…So NIL has screwed most schools out of years of tradition.. VERY SAD..

The people who look forward to A-day can still attend A-day and have a great time.

Your opinion on why this decision was made isn't correct. How many times have we mentioned the number of injuries in discussions about the spring?

Maybe not Bama… But a lot of teams have ended their spring games and televised events to keep their stud players under wraps…I believe Oregon and Ohio State started it..Then others began to follow suit..

Correction not Oregon yet… Texas instead..

By the way, the ironic thing about Nebraska "leading the way" on canceling spring games.

Seven years ago, I want to say...the "news wires" were flooded with how Nebraska had made it into the top ten of spring game attendance rankings. Sixty something thousand as I recall...don't hold me to that.

I remember they were bragging about selling fifty thousand tickets, last year, for their spring game.

But, first to "cancel."

(No knock on Nebraska...seems like a great fan base. I've never had an game experience with them.)

Meh… I enjoyed the spring games, but not a big deal to me personally.
I know a lot of people that attend A-day, do so for financial reasons also. Bigger deal to me is, as long as the players and coaches get what they need out of it. Sure it’s little sad to see another college tradition going by the wayside. It is what it is….
Let me add another twist to this.

All my life I've heard about how Alabama fan know football. In most cases, this is true.

Then I'm left with people who claim to know football and complain about watching a practice.

If you want to know how the team is looking there's no better way than a practice. That, versus some media guy has the role of guest coach on afternoon. Or, guest refs.

As I've said. If I were there nothing is going to change about how I "celebrate" A-day. I'm still going to walk around campus. I'm still going to find something new to eat. I'm still going to "self-invite" myself into a few tailgates for their food... 🙃

As said above, it's simply one more thing changing with college football that makes you hate where it's all going. This isn't happening without NIL. If it was injury related, it happens years and years before this. Just another reason to add to the reasons you already stated you aren't as bought in as you once were, regardless of you personal feelings on this exact piece of it.

Also, why on Earth would the NCAA reject Colorado and Syracuse playing each other for their Spring game? In an environment where they are worthless and hold no power, why would they cancel this over so much other stuff they have allowed?
