🏈 🅰️-DAY 2025: Recaps and commentary.

The Crimson Tide’s annual intrasquad scrimmage will signal the end of spring practice

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –
The University of Alabama and head football coach Kalen DeBoer announced Friday that the 2025 Golden Flake A-Day Spring Game is officially scheduled for Saturday, April 12.

The annual A-Day Game is the final workout of the Crimson Tide's spring practice slate and will take place inside Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium. A start time will be announced at a later date. Additionally, more information on A-Day, including additional activities, traffic and parking will be posted on RollTide.com when it becomes available.

Any news or reports? Been busy today and of course it wasn’t televised

Disclaimer, I didn't go... but IMO, there's really nothing worth reporting in terms of what went on today. It was apparently a stripped down practice, lots of guys held out, not much 11 on 11 and even then, no tackling. There will be some that went and try to pick apart every aspect of it to try and turn it into some narrative, good or bad, but I doubt (and have heard) there wasn't much to it in terms of what you could really form strong impressions of. The spring as a whole, different story in some cases. But not today.

So what happened?
See the story with Brandon Miller.

It happened last year. I don't really care about how this sounds. The strip turns into a fucking nightmare. If it was a court, I'd call it kangaroo. "It's a fucking jungle" from a text last night.

From my perspective, in a nutshell that's the truth, it's BBS. Birmingham BullShit coming to Tuscaloosa.

As I've mentioned, I was a New College guy at Bama. One of my class...is now (was pretty high up then) one of the leaders of Sin City Disciples. He tells me a large part of the stuff is initiations. I tend to trust him. LOL...remembering sitting in International Deli on University Blvd....eating Cuban sandwiches and talking about Orwell with this guy. And he leaves on his hog.

Long term safety will have to be dealt with otherwise parents will not send their kids if they are concerned about their safety. Big picture this is a university business issue so Tuscalloose City and PD will have to get this under control.

Better get that shit in check or folks won't send their kids to school there. I damn sure ain't sending three of my daughters there if they can't even control "campus". A shame students can't grab a bite and have a drink without concerns of being shot, robbed, or beat up by someone not even remotely close to a student, anywhere! Zero reason they can't have a larger security precense around town to protect college kids from outsiders

So what was crowd.
6-7 thousand

What a difference things have become from saban year 1 to now.

@Brandon Van de Graaff You didn't go ?
I am starting to worry about CF n Bama

NIL n Portal issues must be fix asap.

No. Only reason I ever really go to A-Day's is to visit with people like @rammerjammer and @doemasters.

But I do think that was probably Alabama's last official A-Day. In the future, I could see a closed (A-Day style) scrimmage that's only open to Yea Alabama and A Club members, but I'm not even sure they'll do that. On one hand, it's kinda sad... it was a good chance for many that normally can't get to regular games to enjoy a day on campus and see the team. Just from a traditional spring game standpoint, I'm gonna miss it on some level, even though the game itself wasn't very important to me. At a time when universities need to be cultivating more fans to fight against stuff like NIL and transfers that many fans are having a hard time swallowing, it seems like a pretty short sighted move to go away from open spring games. But, with all the changes we've seen in just college football alone in the last 4 or 5 years, I can't say it is at all surprising. Unfortunate, but not surprising.

On the Strip issues... this has been going on for years now. Even back when we were having the RTB tailgates it was an issue, and we stopped those a while back. Huge packs of college aged groups from surrounding areas would descend on the Quad after the game ended and pretty much ransack any unoccupied tailgate location on their way to the Strip to party for the afternoon/night. It became this yearly party tradition for groups from south of here, north of here (and some locals who don't attend UA) to meet up for a huge block party and basically take over the Strip. It has gotten bigger and bigger each year. This is the 2nd year now that TPD has had to shut down the Strip because of it, but it's nothing new. Most UA students who have any awareness know to just steer clear, though many don't. Maybe with A-Day going away, the annual pilgrimage to the Strip will cease, but I doubt that. It's become to big of a spring "party" for it to just go away organically. The school and city will have to make it go away, but they probably won't have the stomach for that until there's a major incident.
