🏈 So who's the next defensive coordinator?

I'd think Tucker was top choice, but if they went outside higher, I like to see Venables and Sunseri get a close look.

Brent Venables (great recruiter, experience with spread/huh and brings a bill Snyder influenced style... sets the team for Dabo to take over in a couple years ;)

Sal Sunseri. Excellent recruiter, knows the system and the SEC, EXCELLENT players coach, and some experience at DC. He went into a bad situation at UTenn that didn't exactly set him up for success. I think he'd do very well back at Bama.

Plus, there are a host of NFL DCs Bama could afford that could be interesting choices.

I just don't like the Pruitt idea. Not a fan. Muschamp would be a good hire as long as cns is there to reel him in. Saban's not going to let his assistant's behave that way. His keeping CLK out of the spotlight is proof of that. There is one face/voice for the team. Assistant's have to know their role.

I"m happy for coach Smart. I hope it works out. I'm not worried who the next DC is because Bama has the current players and player pool to make the coach look brilliant. Of course it is probably a huge bonus if the guy has a dynamic personality for recruiting.

Unique thing about Saban is that he embraces change. Fresh coaching changes to him means growth. I think he will hire a new face with new ideas.

CNS is probably sitting back listening to some LRB.... "Cool Change" Haha

I really hope they don't do Pruitt, douchebag of the highest order. He has been all the way back to his HS days, back when I covered his HS for a local fishwrap. I never interviewed the players, just his father, who was the HC but he was a jackass to opposing players, to his own teammates and to his own classmates. Some of his behaviour as he left for FSU, at FSU and at UGA just seem to back that up. He was kept under decent control under Saban but that was just as a position coach.

Honestly i think Nick calls Muschamp first. At least puts out a feeler. ESPECIALLY if Lane leaves. I dont think he wants to break in 2 new coordinators at the same time (without have previous worked for him) unless he absolutely has to. If Will says no, then IMO its kinda of wide open from Steele to dare i say Lance. Tucker is a very real possibility too. I think alot depends on if Lane leaves or not honestly.

If we hired Steele for DC, that would be the most disappointing hire in Saban's time here. Steele is cursed, notice that he wasn't on our staff in the three NC years, but every year he was on the staff we didn't win an NC.
