🏈 Shula off season workouts

I was wondering if anyone knows what some of the differences between Shula's off season, or "4th quarter program", and Saban's are.

I am not trying to beat up on Shula, I just would like to know how different the two programs are.

Thanks

I'm not sure there were "in season" workouts after watching most of the games.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big CMS fan, and I was a huge QBMS fan, but we were beaten in nearly every game in the 4th quarter due to lack of stamina.

Accountability is the biggest difference. If you didn't participate, or just went through the motions, there wasn't any repercussions from the HC or any of the Asst.'s. There weren't any specific requirements for each group as well (that were enforced.) Con actually had a very weak schedule for his OLmen. Just as an example, Simeon didn't take part in a lot of the workouts with the team in Shula's last year and it really ticked his brother and other leaders on the team off. He was working out, but off campus in B-ham. (just another example of the lack of leadership and problems that resulted in Shula having no control over the team)

As to specifics, Saban's 4th quarter program is actually copyrighted...so getting into the specific details of how his operates isn't information readily available.

The easiest way I can describe the difference is Saban's workouts simply don't stop. Shula's was more of a work at your own pace routine that didn't sit well with Rocky Colburn, at all!
