🏈 Safety Chris Williams flips commitment from Alabama to UCF (report)

Alabama has dropped another name off its 2014 recruiting class on the day before National Signing Day as three-star safety Chris Williams has reportedly flipped his commitment from the Tide to UCF, per Rivals.com.


Williams, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound prospect from Kingsland, Georgia, visited UCF over the weekend. Williams' high school teammate, Kalvaraz Bessent, was also a former Alabama commitment who flipped elsewhere, with Bessent ultimately committing to Auburn.

Alabama now has 25 verbal commitments heading into National Signing Day.

Entrance requirements at UCF are below that of Bama and the SEC as a conference.

There's been word we had a couple who were close to qualifying but there was a suspicion they wouldn't make the grade.

Did Chris Williams flip from Alabama? To be determined (report)

Where will Chris Williams sign on Wednesday? It's apparently still up in the air.


After a report from Rivals.com on Tuesday morning that the three-star Camden County (Ga.) safety had de-committed from Alabama and would instead sign with Central Florida, 247Sports reported Tuesday afternoon that Williams is still considering signing with the Crimson Tide on Wednesday.


The report cited an unnamed source as saying that Alabama was making a late push in order to keep Williams in its class and there is still a chance he might sign with the Tide. He is scheduled to sign at 9:30 a.m. Eastern.


Even so, 247Sports updated their page on Williams to show him as a UCF commit.
