I wish MA the best and all but never really was a strong believer in him. I am sure he will mature and become a great coach and everything. I also understand that he really did not have the tools that he might have liked to have but I think we can do at least as good as CMA.

You beat me to it, Bo . . . though there is the old adage: "Truth is sometimes stranger than fiction."

Did you see the other article, which stated that MA had visited UT earlier in the month? Just speculation but maybe MA felt a little uneasy about the Muschamp hire, especially if Major has aspirations of one day becoming the HC at UT.

Of course, I'm going with the second most popular reason why folks change jobs and relocate--to please a spouse.

Asked if Applewhite was promised a line of succession to either offensive coordinator or even head coach, the first source said, "People keep talking about that, but that is absolutely not true at all. They're not talking that kind of silliness. I think Major just wants to be stable (after three other jobs in three years)."

Brown contacted Applewhite Sunday, the same day he asked Alabama coach Nick Saban for permission to interview Applewhite.

Applewhite had been in town earlier this month, speaking with Davis. But there were no discussions then about joining the Texas staff. Davis has served as a mentor to Applewhite, who runs an offense similar to the Longhorns at Alabama.
