After the Kansas City Chiefs placed running back Jamaal Charles on injured reserve, the former Alabama running back worked out with the team on Tuesday alongside free agent running Vick Ballard, according to USA Today’s Tom Pelissero.

After being selected with the No. 3 overall selection of the 2012 NFL Draft, Richardson ran for 950 yards and 11 touchdowns in his rookie season, but was traded to the Indianapolis Colts in the middle of 2013.
He failed to be a productive part of the Colts’ offense over the better part of two seasons, and was waived in March 2015. Richardson was in camp with the Oakland Raiders in 2015, but failed to make the team.
Richardson was waived by the Baltimore Ravens in August, and remains an NFL free agent.
