Interesting to see how the players have done since transferring out of Alabama.

The Studs:​

S Caleb Downs, Ohio State - All American and Thorpe Finalist.
C Seth McLaughlin, Ohio State - Rimington Award winner
WR Ja'Corey Brooks, Louisville - 61 catches, 1013 yards, 9 touchdowns
CB Trey Amos, Ole Miss - 47 tackles, 3 INT - All-SEC 1st Team
QB Eli Holstein, Pittsburgh - 62% completions, 2225 yards, 17 touchdowns, 7 INT's
C James Brockermeyer, TCU - starting center
CB Dezz Ricks, Texas A&M - 18 tackles, 1 INT - earned a starting role at corner late in the season​

The Duds:​

The Florida State 5: RB Roydell Williams, WR Malik Benson, OG TJ Ferguson, DB Earl Little Jr., LB Shawn Murphy
WR Isaiah Bond, Texas - put up smaller numbers at Texas than Alabama. 33-532-5 this year at Texas vs. 48-668-4 at Alabama last season.
TE Amari Niblack, Texas - 5 catches, 33 yards - went from starter to reserve.
DL Isaiah Hastings, Syracuse - 5 total tackles
DL Anquin Barnes Jr., Colorado - 11 total tackles
DL Monkell Goodwine, South Carolina - 14 total tackles
LB Ian Jackson, UTSA - 2 total tackles
S Kristian Story, Kentucky - 28 total tackles, 1 INT
S Jake Pope, Georgia - no recorded stats
DL Khurtiss Perry, Virginia Tech - played 11 total snaps on defense, no stats. Back in portal.
DB Antonio Kite, Auburn - 6 tackles, 1 INT - kicked off the team and back in portal.​

To Be Determined:​

QB Julian Sayin, Ohio State
WR Shazz Preston, Tulane
DB Jameer Grimsley, Florida

I don't think Bonds should fall in the "Duds" category. He was impeded by an injury and missed some action due to that. He was productive enough to almost match his BAMA numbers with one extra TD. The guy was not a BAMA first guy admittedly but it sure would have been nice if he had stuck around too.

I would bet a little of both, we've all chatted about the need for the OL coaching change but also to be honest Seth did not put in the work to snap things cleanly and had the Yips. Something he didn't have this year, good for him for figuring it out, sad it cost us last year.
 
Really hated Amos left. It turned out ok for UA, all things considered, but having him would have been nice.

Agree with @bamafan4ever, Bonds did fine at Texas. I was ok with him leaving (for the reasons he left), but as far as on the field he did fine and will get his name called pretty early in the draft.

On Seth, his success isn't surprising at all. He was always really good. People focus on the snaps, and they were bad (and costly), but they were not always all on him. I think the yips probably crept into play some, but the dude was a really good center beyond that. There's a reason Ohio State scooped him up immediately instead of a team like Arkansas St. He got his snap issues ironed out and showed this year just how good he was. But this notion by a lot of fans, and it goes way back to last year, that he was garbage is not rooted in reality. He needed the change of scenery, but he was always really good IMO... just needed to fix his glitch.
 
I think that some of Seth's problems snapping the ball stemmed from Milroe's inconsistencies in getting the play called, players lined up and giving the snap signal. Watch in the upcoming bowl game. It seems that his cadence is different most every time. It looks as though he is trying hard to pre read the defense, but we all know he's not that good of a reader.
 
I'll be honest with everyone here, a lot of that production above came against inferior opponents. Ohio State's schedule was a joke, and I cannot sit here and say they (Downs and McLaughlin) produced any more than they would have in Tuscaloosa, because our schedule smashed Ohio State's an everyone else in the Big 10. I don't see either one of them as a loss. Defense had some lapses this year, but Downs was not great in coverage, he's WAY better coming up against the run, so I really couldn't see anything changing for us in that regard.

Bond, say what you want, but he was not what they thought they were getting in Austin. They wanted another first round speedster like they had with Worthy.

Glad to see Brooks have a breakout because he was good at Alabama and injuries got him lost in the shuffle and he never made it back. he did really well.

in the end, I don't think we lost anything that hurt us or that would have made a difference in our season.

Well. We did lose something. It was depth. Maybe some would have started. Maybe some at 2s. But over all. Add those dudes back in and we would be solid 1s jn 2s.
And wouldnt have had to play some that needed some culturing
Like at receiver. We were short on quality receivers...

But still. Goes back to inconsistency at qb play. Bama was ok but JM play n oline play was inconsistent ....and add new coaching staff.... made for crap year...

Still don't think we suffered at either of those two positions. Quarterback position really put us in a spot this year.
