| MBB/WBB đźŹ€ Players Era Festival Championship Game 🏀 : No. 9/9 Alabama Falls to Oregon, 83-81, in Championship Game

I'm more pissed off on how the fuck all four players stand there and watch Oregon drive to the basket and allow such an easy ass put back with no time left. Rudimentary shit you learn from Junior High in late game situations and our dumbass players didn't even bother to box out.

Our defense is a monstrosity this season. Early or not, there is no post presence and there isn't a rim protector. Cliff sucks hard and is always lost; Stevenson can't even stop a man in front of him; Sears is always lagging behind. Even when we get stops, we're in poor position.

This new D coach sucks

I'm much more bummed about losing Wrightsell than losing the game, but this team continues to hurt themselves way too much. Biggest concern is they still start off games to ridiculous turnovers... they get a little better as the game goes on, but it's a lot of damage to overcome. 2nd biggest concern is defense... really thought it would be better by now. They have a LONG way to go. 3rd biggest concern is Sears. I think he will get out of this funk, but it has infected every area of his game at this point. And he's pressing, with Wrightsell gone, that isn't likely to help matters. I looks a bit dead legged to me at times, but that's just a guess. Fourth biggest concern is, we aren't even in December yet and already have a major injury. This team's depth is really good, but the history of injuries on these Oats teams makes me queasy.

Need Youngblood soon, and he needs to show up with a cape on.

15 freaking turnovers and Sears being 1-11 from 3, 3-14 from the floor.

Philon was 6-8 from the floor and was obviously more capable of running the offense.

God lee for Oats being such an analytical guy, he has these coaching moments where I'm like are you even reading what the stats are saying? Just like vs UCLA in the S16 when Primo was having a better game than Shackelford, but he kept leaving him on the bench.

I'm still not 100% upset with this. I most likely don't know the game like you, but we converged on the would be game winner. It was just a perfect miss. I'm more pissed Sears continued to take shots when he was shooting less than 10%. All this "he took himself out" of the one game because he knew he didn't have it and he sacrificed our chances tonight by continuing to shoot a shot he wasn't making. I love Sears, but he is having Milroe type affects on this team. A freaking senior and he doesn't know how long it takes him to drive the length of the court, only to pass it off and think it gets out of his teammates hands in less than four seconds. That is what pisses me off. On top of that, he and Nelson both had separation from their defenders and either could have thrown up a shot sooner.

This for sure. That dude is a veteran and can shoot lights out. Plus hate it for the kid because he has lost so much playing time with injuries.

Your other points I agree with also but mainly the turnovers and defense. I thought after Houston they were better but they have struggled the last two games.

Very least an alley oop was the play. No reason to sit there with 4 seconds left and pass it underneath with no time. Dumb as shit.

The injury definitely stinks. I hate the loss because it gives us smaller margins of error come conference play if we are shooting for that first or second seed in the NCAA Tournament. Kentucky and Auburn are gonna be tough. We'll also get pushed by a Georgia or a South Carolina type team like in the past. Still got Carolina and Creighton to deal with too. Zero reason we should have lost this game, even with the turnovers. Certain players have to be mindful of their in-game statistics and understand who is hitting and who ain't, so get that guy the ball more.

I hate losing, at any time, even if we are an underdog. I see very few teams that should beat us. Sears hasn't been on, so he needs to let Philon take over. Sears is a veteran and will be on more than he's off, so the opportunities will be plentiful for him. The team needs to work around Nelson and let Holloway and Philon run the gane with Sears stepping in to shoot and stabilize the team when it's struggling. Just my two cents.

The Crimson Tide dropped a back-and-forth affair with the Ducks in the game’s final seconds

LAS VEGAS –
The No. 9/9 Alabama men's basketball fell in the final seconds to Oregon, 83-31, in Players Era Festival Championship game. The Crimson Tide led for more than 22 minutes in the contest, however, a put back dunk by the Ducks' Nate Bittle with four seconds remaining proved to be the difference

Alabama (6-2) responded with what appeared to be the game-tying bucket, but Grant Nelson's shot came just after the clock buzzer to result in the final score.

Labaron Philon led the five UA players in double figures with 15 points on 6-8 shooting and seven boards. Jarin Stevenson, Aden Holloway and Mark Sears each scored 11, while Latrell Wrightsell Jr. had 10 in the losing effort.
The Ducks (8-0) were led by Keeshawn Barthelemy's game high 22 points while Bittle finished with 19 points and nine boards.

Head Coach Nate Oats Postgame Comments

"Tough way to lose a game and our turnovers have been haunting us here in Vegas. Last game (Rutgers) and this game we have been giving up points off turnovers and it is hard to overcome that, so we have got to figure a way to take care of the basketball better. It is everybody that is turning the ball over and we still had issues guarding the post. We didn't shoot it particularly well in stretches tonight but you are going to have games like that and you have to overcome poor shooting nights. This was not what we were looking to do out here but that is a good team, we have to learn from it and we got to play better and get ourselves regrouped for Carolina on Wednesday."

North Carolina's defense is pretty mid from what I've seen this season. I didn't see them attack the glass very well in their games. But it's tricky because we turn the ball over so damn much, we're giving teams opportunities to stay in the game.

We should win but it all depends on what Bama team comes out.
