| MBB/WBB 🏀 Alabama vs Purdue 🏀 - Tide Falls at No. 13/12 Purdue, 87-78

Tough loss, I thought we’d be able to outscore Purdue. Team stats are pretty similar except shooting percentage, they wore the nets out with 50% FG and 56% from 3. Luckily they weren’t good free throw shooters or it wouldn’t have been close. Hopefully we learned some lessons in this one, they were a better tram than I thought. They lost Eddy and didn’t fall off much.

Watched it. I seriously don't understand why we just don't let Philon run point mainly and have Sears play off ball more. The offense has gotten incredibly lethargic when Sears is running it.

Not a bad loss but we don't look like a top 10 team at all. Last three games have shown that.

It never ceases to amaze me how Purdue with an average recruiting ranking in the mid 40’s consistently develops those three and four star players into top 25 teams year end and year out.

It's like those old Indiana teams... they play fundamentally sound and don't hurt themselves too much. Just an example tonight, they had 18 assists and only 3 turnovers.

The Crimson Tide drop its first contest of the season

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.
– The No. 2/2 Alabama men's basketball team fell at No. 13/12 Purdue, 87-78, Friday Night inside Mackey Arena. The Crimson Tide held a six-point lead midway through the second half, however, the Boilermakers went on a 13-0 run to take the lead for good and pull out the nine-point win.

Alabama (3-1) was led by Labaron Philon who scored 18 points off the bench on 7-of-10 shooting from the floor and 3-of-4 from deep. Grant Nelson added his first double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 boards in the losing effort.
The Boilermakers (4-0) were led by Trey Kaufman-Renn's 26 points on 12-of-23 shooting, to go along with a team-leading eight rebounds.

Head Coach Nate Oats Postgame Comments

"We schedule these games for a reason; we like to go against the best teams in the country and figure out what we have to work on, and we have plenty to work on because they (Purdue) are good. Braden Smith is one of the best guards in the country and he does not turn the ball over. As a team, they only had three turnovers. We got beat up in the post a little more than what I thought. The coaching staff has to do a better job of preparing our guys to defend the post and we didn't do a good job of getting our shooters open. Give them (Purdue) a lot of credit though, those guards are good and super skilled. We have got some work to do, and we will get back to the drawing board and get better because we have another big game coming up."
