šŸˆ Oregon Fans "We want Bama"

Personally, I don't care who Oregon plays, as long as they get to the NC game life will be good. Plenty of football to be played before that happens. Right now, it's WSU and Leach and his bag of tricks. He's a dangerous coach to go against and will upset a few along the way, I just don't see him winning week in and week out. Still dangerous, ask USC.

Defending a Leach offense isn't rocket science—disrupt his QB's timing just a little and some physical coverage on his wide-outs and the timing of their offense comes to a grinding halt.

In a manner of speaking it's not a lot different from defending the Oregon offense where maintaining gap control is essential.

i disagree with some who think A&M does this type of offense better than Oregon. I think Oregon has an advantage in straight line speed with their QB over Manziel who is more of a shifty runner. the guy at Oregon is a threat to the endzone every time he gets past a linebacker. Oregon also has more of a threat at the running back position and generally more team speed across the board on offense.

what would be most interesting would be the line play which was, i think, the biggest factor in why Auburn was able to beat them handily in '10.

I think at this point in the season, a game between Alabama and Oregon would resemble the A&M game with the exception that both teams would likely score fewer points... but a shootout with Alabama having a slight edge due to line and linebacker play on defense and our offense being ball control and field position dominant would likely give Oregon a different look than they are accustomed to.

The "We want Bama" shirt is flattering in a way. As GoDucks said, there is a lot of football to be played before that can come about.

It's a mix of flattery and confidence. I am ok with both but it is also the arrogance of some members of their fan base that feel we have been undeserving in our inclusion in the title game in years past. That seems to be the pervasive theme, especially with the SEC conspiracy theorist. I would love nothing more to meet the Ducks in a game just to see this thing play out, once and for all. We certainly have had more practice against the spread-type offenses this year than any year I can remember so it won't be like playing a triple option team that we never see any more.

Once upon a time before a big game, the Tennessee faithful wore buttons asking "Archie Who?".

Chief, you brought back some memories about that game. I remember a media member picking Ole Miss to win that game, because "Ole Miss had a lot of horses". Ralph Kiner, a great LB at UT at the time responded that people who've never been down on the farm don't know a horse from a mule. After Archie and the Rebs drubbed the Vols, Ole Miss fans labeled Kiner Hee-haw. I think that was the same game where another UT LB, Jack reynolds, earned his nickname :Hacksaw" by cutting his car in half with a hacksaw after the Vols lost. Damn, that was a long time ago.

I've not really considered most of what you've said here but there is one thing that draws my attention: "what would be most interesting would be the line play which was, i think, the biggest factor in why Auburn was able to beat them handily in '10."

Handily is certainly a stretch considering it was a last second field goal that gave Auburn the win. But, you've hit on a good point as well here.

Auburn was able to control the Oregon running game handily—to the point it had no semblance of anything, anyone had seen from the Oregon rushing attack all season. The Ducks were held to less than a third of their total yards rushing in that game versus what they'd done all season. That was due to the Tigers DL play...specifically the impact Fairley and company provided.

(That game featured two of the best running backs we've seen on the field at the same time over the last decade with Dyer and James. On par with Gurley and Yeldon from the SECCG last season...)

I actually heard the button story second hand... but not TOO second hand. You know, I think a mistress named confidence is okay, as long as you avoid her twin sister Arrogance.

Makes sense. Oregon should take care of business tomorrow night.

The score against Auburn was 22-19 and that winning field goal was kicked on the last play of the game. And Auburn would never have had a shot at that field goal except for a mental mistake by a tackler thinking Dryer was down. No whistle, which was the correct call, and Dryer started running again gaining the yards needed to get in field goal range. Some how that doesn't sound like Auburn "handily" beat the Ducks.

I'd agree Alabama has the advantage at linebacker.

Sure wished you all would of won that game. Here is your example of not giving a shat about "SEC, SEC"

I was rooting for Oregon so hard in that game ..

I do understand a bit about the Auburn vs. Alabama rivalry. I traveled this country for over 30 years going to 49 states both rural and urban areas around the country. University of Alabama Health Sciences was a client. On one trip I was in Birmingham the week before the Auburn vs. Bama game having lunch in a fairly empty restaurant. I was sitting at a table next to a ticket scalper who was doing some active buying and selling during lunch. We got to talking between his phone calls. Lets just say he gave me his low opinion of the Auburn fan base.....

You know, I did the weirdest thing yesterday—something I thought I'd never do. I said "War Eagle." Lord help me. I always want other SEC teams to win, because Bama looks so much better when they eventually beat them. But there was something about watching Manziel and A&M go down. The smirky little twerp, with his smack talking attitude.

Anyway, since it's Sunday I thought I would confess. It's not about the SEC being dominant. It's about Alabama beating teams that win. I didn't chant "SEC" to my TV or sing Rocky Top. But that was a crazy day. And Auburn had their moment.

Well , it looks like someone will have to wash his mouth out with soap!! :smiley-no-no-yellow
