| MBB/WBB No. 18 Alabama Outlasts No. 1 North Carolina in Quadruple Overtime, 103-101

Yea, Uconn been throwing those moving screens all night throwing hips and moving while screening. Pretty rough reffing so far. Needs more consistency.

From a tie to 10 down pretty quickly. This game will help this team in the long run. Miller has been controlled througout the game. Who else will emerge this year?

Yea, Bama just doesn't have an answer here, rough night for Miller and the rest of the team has been pretty poor around him tonight. Bradley off the bench has been the best thing so far. We need assists and passing, our game and system thrive on assists and passing right now Uconn is almost 2 to 1 more than us in that category. We are just playing HERO ball the entire game, trying to drive and score between 2-3 players instead of driving and finding the open man.

Also, Sears for all the hype he had transferring in hasn't done much this year so far. He needs to step-up and start draining some 3s or I would rather see Bradley on the floor instead of him.

New team, early in the season. Give it some time. North Carolina, Kansas, and Villanova all went down and looked bad as well.
Fully agree this team is night and day different than last year but I was hopeful the D would have kept these runs from happening. To go from tied to 17 down was frustrating. I think the youth/inexperience showed up. As I said in an earlier post this game will help this team in the long run.

Fouls were an issue as well. We held them defensively for a lot of the game as well. They did get two big runs on us. I felt the rims were very bouncy tonight. Anyone else feel like that?

PORTLAND, Ore. – After climbing back from a 15-point first half deficit in the semifinals of the Phil Knight Invitational, turnovers proved to be too costly as No. 20/22 UConn defeated No. 18/18 Alabama, 82-67, on Friday night. The loss is the first for the Crimson Tide this season as it drops to 5-1 while the Huskies improve to 7-0. The Crimson Tide drops its first contest of the 2022-23 season

The Crimson Tide struggled taking care of the ball on offense to start the game, committing five turnovers on their first seven possessions. While Alabama's offense struggled, the defense was once again exceptional for the Tide, limiting UConn to a pair of made field goals over its first 10 field goal attempts.

The Huskies went on a 14-0 run midway through the half and held a 15-point lead (28-13) with seven minutes left in the half. However, Alabama was able to cut into UConn's lead, ending the half on a 9-0 run to trim the lead to five points (35-30) at halftime.

Alabama continued to chip away at the Huskies' lead and was able to tie the game on several occasions before the Huskies went on a 16-1 run to get their lead back to erase any doubts of a UA comeback.

HEAD COACH NATE OATS POSTGAME COMMENTS

"Tonight was a tough loss, UConn is obviously a really good team, and it is our first loss of the season so you learn about yourselves a little bit. I thought our first half turnovers killed us but we did a good job and showed a lot of fight getting back to tie the game up a couple of times in the second half, but we just fouled too much. They (UConn) went 17-of-18 from the free throw line. The fouling just negates all of our hustle on the defensive end and when we needed stops, we couldn't get them. We have got a lot of stuff we need to get better at; we have to take care of the ball better and I didn't think we had a good gameplan on how to stop their pick-and-roll with limited practice time. I didn't think our effort was bad. I just think we couldn't get some stops when we needed to, and they opened it up."
