I can't say I remember even hearing of boiled peanuts until I moved to SC and there were more than a handful of farms in N AL who had crops. I'm not a big fan, but have to say a local guy here has some really good Cajun flavors. He runs his little trailer/food truck set up seven days a week; five off the I and two at the flea market.
Crazy story? My uncle buys them every time he visits the Lowcountry. Not to eat, mind you, but as a car freshner. Seriously, he likes to put them on his dashboard so his car will smell like peanuts. I. Don't. Get. It.
Similar story around these parts but with one guy; Tony the Peanut Man. He was a staple around the Riverdogs games until he branched out and started selling at other venues (along with other merchandise.)This is from my hometown. This couple had a peanut business. They were locally known for great boiled peanuts.
The guy I was referring to earlier can be found M-F at the exit for Jedburg off of I-26. Same scenario...truck and trailer pulled off on the side of the road where there's literally no place to park, but a half of a dozen or more will find room. Pure southern scene...older fella sitting in a lawn chair under the shade of an umbrella. But as a rule of thumb, if some dude is set up on the side of the road in a pickup in AL selling them, they're going to be good.
Man that sounds so delicious. How do you cook the butternut squashPorter House Steaks, bacon wrapped butter not squash, asparagus, and homemade "crimson" red velvet cake with butter icing instead or cream cheese icing.

If I make is across Tuscaloosa tomorrow to pick up some surprisingly good rolls that the Sam's bakery makes, then I'll do pork tenderloin sliders. It's going to depend if having sliders is worth going to Sam's I guess....

@Brandon Van de Graaff what did you use for the condiment/sauce?
I was afraid of that. I don't doubt your ability in the cuisine department, just your judgment on mustard based BBQ sauce.A vinegar/mustard BBQ sauce that I've been dabbling with for a few months. Trying to get it zeroed in. Would have also been good with a basic horseradish sauce (like served with prime rib), IMO.
