The lines were getting their asses whipped on most snaps.. the pocket and the D was moving back 5 to 7 yards as soon as the ball was snapped…So they revamped the S&C programs.. Saban wanted BRUTE strength back on the field again..
In my personal opinion, UGA had a superior S&C program to any team in the nation…It started after Bama whipped them in the SEC champ game..Kirby even admitted it…UGA was a completely different animal in the Natty.. UGA really beat all those teams, by BRUTE strength.. Saban saw that … He is going back to that..
I think the strength and conditioning coaches are really the most important coaches in a football program… we learned that when we had Cochran…PAY the S&C staffs the big bucks too..

Rees has been with Kelly since he started… Kelly wanted to take him to LSU badly…Like him or not Kelly is a great offensive mind… there’s nothing wrong with admitting it…his knowledge of Kelly is nothing but an asset… Kelly will be a formidable opponent for years to come…

That has nothing to do with Rees and Kelly. Rees was one of the brightest OC.. a rising star in the circle... Tommy came to Alabama because of talent Saban has on the team and he knows if it goes well, it'll lead to HC job... not because of Kelly.
Think about it.. Who would you go work for? Kelly or Saban?

Since Cochran split, the team has been missing the Edge he gave…They are claiming the S&C changes post season may bring it back… Coach Steele claims this is the best defensive line that we’ve had (ever since he’s been here)… I will have to see that to believe it..

This is what Steele said today:
On the defensive line
"Right now, we’re early in fall practice, but they’ve worked really hard in the summer as a defensive line group. We’ve got talent there. They’re very coachable. And we’ve got some guys that are developing leadership in the room. That’s still a work in progress. But we have the talent. We’ve just gotta work the process.”
He never said it was the best defensive line ....

Kelly is a douchebag.. but Kelly is a winner…Like Sark and Kiffin, Saban wanted what they have on his team… And now he has a lot of Kelly’s knowledge too.. Im sure Saban will pick his brain on Kelly ever chance he gets..

The changes in the S&C program started before Kirby and Cochran left.
You're right but not why you think you're right.
The philosophy of the S&C department was something Saban wanted to implement roughly two years before the two aforementioned coaches left. He put the details/program together; Cochran balked at the idea.
This philosophy, patterned after several NFL programs Saban and company worked with, is what these players are seeing today.

Why did Kirby want Rees? Kelly's mind?
The Rees family has been known in football for a long, long time. His hire under Saban has nothing to do with Kelly. It has to do with Tommy.

Kelly and Saban are friends. Kelly talks to Rees every once in a while. Kelly doesn't do anything special on offense. He's a good coach, but that's about it.
