| MBB/WBB đźŹ€ McNeese State vs Alabama 🏀 Nelson Scores 22 Points in Alabama’s Win (72-64)

There's not a lot of games you're going to see Alabama go on a 8-minute scoring drought, but if you watched this one, you would see why. Not a lot of ball movement, no cuts to the basket, and no sense of urgency in the second half. I counted 12 of the last 15 possessions, the shot clock went under 10 seconds. Which is fine, but not your typical Oats offense. Ton of second chance opportunities to McNeese State when we were up 21. Complacency set in, similar to how it did vs Arkansas State. Just ugly, ugly wins right now. Team cannot play like this against Purdue.

I'll say this - defense was not bad until the last seven minutes of the game. I'd be interested in seeing the +/- from the start to the end.

Quality win though. McNeese won 30 games last year. But their comeback had a lot to do with Alabama not playing good on offense.

Wade's going to talk up this loss because he has too. But at the same time, we gotta realize this team has a shit of talent and needs time to gel. Can't wait too long for that though since the next stretch of games is the toughest in the country.

+16 for Stevenson. Would not have thought that watching the game, but he did fairly well. Just got to hit open shots. Holloway is volume shooter, so you have to take his slumps as they come. He'll have games where he can't miss; others where he can't hit. Stevenson could be a more consistent inside the arc. Was hoping to see a bigger jump from him inside the paint.

Love Oats tracking his own internal scoreboard. Basically broke down the four-minute marks in the game and how we lost from the 14-minute mark til the end of the game. Guy is going to get these guys to practice hard this week to fix it.

He's 100% correct though. Got up 21 and then just lost in every way possible. Defensive intensity fell off; blue collar points, they lost; quality of shots were bad; and the offense was not free flowing.

Lot to fix with this team. Not playing like the #2 team in the country. They'll get it fixed though.

This right here. This team is right up there with some of Wimp's and Oats most talented squads. But you have to come in with the mentality that you ain't all that, so you better work. Once they get that junkyard dog mentality like we saw in the tournament, look out.
