| CURRENT EVENTS Lot of eyes on Tuscaloosa tonight for the GOP debate…

Holy hell. That doesnt sound fun at all
I don't know what his job was/is...but I think I'd find that interesting. Not the actual debate, but what was going on behind the scenes with security, video, audio, and the rest of the "routine."

When Tim Scott announced at Charleston Southern I was the preparation a few times, the activity around there when he was announcing, and everyone leaving. The "logistics" of the whole thing was interesting to me. It was a bit surreal seeing national reporters in the Circle K buying coffee...seeing some of the same at the Chic-Fil-A on campus.

There are four hotels around CSU: all fairly nice. But, not a lot of the media had rooms there. My guess? There wasn't a bar.

I would’ve sworn Vivek was your guy
I'm not sure what to think of him. I'm just getting a sense of his personality which I find entertaining. I'm a little familiar with some of his policy thoughts. I don't believe anyone from the Democratic party wants him on the ticket.

Like I said earlier. I don't know who is going to get my vote. I know a few who aren't.

I don’t think dems care if he or he isn’t. Repubs hit him on being dishonest, dems will be able to do the same.

But, unless something happens between now and then I believe Trump wins, Biden can’t win without the young liberal vote and as of right now they’re not voting for him because of his continued stance with Israel

I'm glad the debate happened: for UA and the city of Tuscaloosa.

I didn't watch the debate.

I am not in a "preferred candidate" stage for this next election. I am eliminating some from consideration: no doubt.

Just picked up some stuff from the dry cleaners...they had Fox News on the TV. It looked like their coverage was from the Brick and Spoon on the square...not sure.

Supposedly, Maddox didn't want it here but UA did and won out. Not sure on the economic impact, but it had to have been a decent boost for the city... restaurants, lodging, etc.

I don't know anything about this. I've only watched him from afar. I don't see him as a contender. A voice, yes, But not a contender.

Saying he's losing support because of Israel is true. It's one of several arenas.

I don't pay a lot of attention to polls so what's indicated right now? 🤷‍♂️ I do see a lot of growing frustration on a lot of different topics.

Now, if he loses the "white, female vote?" He's done. He's losing mom's right now.

Why wouldn’t Maddox want it? Liberal or not having a debate of that size in your city is a big economic boost

I don't know, and it's possible what I heard was wrong... but heard it from 2 different people. One reason I think had to do with the same thing he griped about with UA games not long ago... the cost of the city providing security for multiple days.

I’ve seen many, many, many, many young liberals say they’re not voting for him because of his support for Israel and his lack of calling for a ceasefire.

He can’t win without the younger vote and I don’t imagine he is going to change course. I don’t pay attention to to polls ever, but I do know a lot of liberals aren’t happy with him

The white, female vote and the college educated vote, neither of which he’s making roads with now, I don’t see a path where he wins unless something drastic changes between now and next November

Given the size of the venue, I can't imagine the economic impact was too significant for Tuscaloosa.

I think it was probably helpful to a couple of hotels (Capstone, and the newer ones downtown) and some restaurants... certainly nothing like a game weekend. But there were many more people in town for it than there were seats in the auditorium. And a good portion of them were in town for several days.

Watched 30 mins of the debate……what a shit show.

@TerryP I think I’ve got your preferred candidate or who you’re probably leaning towards
I've watched a few clips since I posted this...and I found. Well, laughs.

One of the best was Christie calling Trump, "unfit." I understand what he was saying. But, "isn't phrasing a thing anymore." ($1 to Archer.)

Christie is just like the rest of them, incompetent. He talks shit about Trump, but he stood by for a few years perpetuating Trump’s actions and only now is speaking up because his buddy did what he does to damn near everybody turns his back on them. Every damn one of them is the same incompetent, jackass except Vivek and well nobody cares about him including those on the right

Because one might disagree with another's opinion, it doesn't make the opinion incompetent. Vivek was a jackass when he told Christie to "go grab a meal and get off the stage." He was a smart ass with the comment on the bridge and contrasting it with foreign policy and the border.

BUT, no one on that stage was incompetent. Language and words, matter, right? That's what we're told. 🤷‍♂️

You’re right, I should’ve used different words. Every damn one of them is a suck up, kiss ass with a refusal to talk bad about their almight lord Trump. They’re dishonest as shit. Only reason cream puff Christie is saying anything is because he knows there is no way that Trump will bring him in for any position. The other ones are vying for positions in a Trump cabinet or the the running mate slot.

I think there's a fine line of going after Trump too much yet still remaining electable in the general. Much like Trump would have to have the moderates to win the general (which I think is all but impossible), someone like DeSantis would have to have the support of the Trump army to accomplish the same. Problem is, Trump's army is just as sensitive as he is. You hurt their feelings too bad, and they'll stay home.

Unfortunately, I think the only thing that can derail Trump at this point is his legal issues... at least that's what I hold out hope for. Yet somehow, I personally know of very few Trump supporters, especially people under the age of 65.

And this is what derails my thought process. I can't disagree with those who say "election interference." I can't disagree with those who say some of these cases are held in a "kangaroo court." (NY is a GREAT example.)

Versus, say, lord Fauci?

It's ridiculous to even suggest rhetoric on this level.

You can’t disagree, how very right of you.

Fauci? Plenty of us criticized him and some of his decisions and to say otherwise is ignorant. Those doofuses at that debate just like they have for the duration refused to criticize the almighty Orange man even when asked directly they couldn’t answer. Huge difference.

What you want is selective accountability, you don’t want actual accountability. Again very right of you

Language.

Where do I want selective accountability? Do you realize how many times you characterize me in a corner, and are so off based? Where am I being selective? Are you accusing me of segregation?
