While watching the Bama/Duke debacle earlier, I saw on the ESPN crawl that a decision to go after Winston may not come for a couple more weeks.

He should be thankful he's a star athlete, if he were just an average guy, he'd already be behind bars fighting for his innocence. Black guy, white girl, in the South...hell, he should be thankful he wasn't born 30 years ago.

I am not expecting any charges. I'm prepared for FSU fans to celebrate like he won the Nobel Peace Prize.

It is very likely, judging by how the state's Attorney is unrolling all of this, that no charges will be filed. In this country, the accused is presumed innocent - or at least that's how it's supposed to be even though the court of public opinion so often ignores that. Having said that, these crimes are often tragic. If there are no charges filed, and if it is because there is not enough evidence to prosecute with - he said, she said (Winston claims it was consensual), it is a sad thing for that girl if she thinks she was really raped. I don't claim to have any answers, and I'm not even going to get in to the whole football star thing. It's just a sad state overall. It's a lose-lose for that girl no matter how you slice it.

For this to hang around for a year is puzzling. If the prosecutor had evidence why wasn't this handled up front. I don't want to believe that the school or any team member or coach would have any thing to do with a cover up, However the Penn State mess was just that. In the end the truth always finds a way to come out. It doesn't matter when it happens as long as it happens.

Everybody in this deal is a loser, except for Winston if he's not charged. If Ray Lewis can get away with killing two dudes, ALLEGEDLY, then Winston will be just fine.
