🏈 Jameis Winston is being investigated for sexual assault

"But the work on the team, me and my team, we've had a very successful year. The Heisman is such a great honor for me to even be mentioned. And, of course, I don't want to lose any voters or anything like that. It's very important to me."

-Winston on Wednesday night.

Yeah. Keep things in perspective brah.

I also just saw that on the news. Said that she still had the underwear from that night with his DNA on them. Not looking good at all now. It just floors me how this wasn't taken care of months ago just because of his status.

He cannot be charged for sexual battery "just" because his DNA was on her underwear, BUT .. it is proof they were together on the night of the alleged battery.

It just looks really bad at this point. Failure by the TPD to follow up, bullying the victim and her family, taking almost a YEAR to do anything about it, only opening it back up once the media got wind last week, Jameis's blase response last night (see Porter's post) .. It just looks worse and worse by the day.

Still, I don't know how a jury down there could ever find Famous Jameis guilty of anything .. :shake:

I just hope that whoever did it faces justice, regardless of their status. And that the young woman is okay, and will not face any more harassment .. though she probably will, as long as Winston's name is involved.

[h=1]Report: Jameis Winston DNA matches accuser's sample in test

A DNA sample provided by Jameis Winston to law enforcement matches DNA found in the underwear of the accuser in Winston's sexual assault investigation, ESPN reported late Wednesday.[/h]Florida Law Enforcement performed an analysis of the DNA provided to police as part of a sexual assault kit Dec. 7, 2012, by the woman who has accused the Florida State quarterback of assaulting her. The results, confirmed Tuesday according to ESPN's report, show a one-in-2.2 trillion chance that the DNA obtained from the kit belongs to someone other than Winston.

The DNA finding is not proof of Winston's guilt in the case. But it will indicate that Winston and his accuser were in close contact on the night of the alleged incident.

Winston is not expected to speak with the state attorney investigating the case. He has not been arrested and has been charged with no crime. His attorney has denied any wrongdoing on Winston's part.

An assistant state attorney told CBSSports.com on Wednesday she has been in touch with the complainant and is making plans to interview her as the investigation continues.

Earlier Wednesday, the family of the accuser issued a statement through their attorney criticizing the Tallahassee Police Department's handling of the case, saying that a police detective had warned their attorney the complainant should "think long and hard" over the potential repercussions of pursuing the case in "a big football town."

After being declared "inactive" in February 2013 after Tallahassee police say the accuser ceased communication with their department, the case was reopened last week in the wake of media inquiries and potential new information in the case.

All I can say is if this was my daughter Shameis better hide and we are not talking a game of hide and go seek. The DNA match would probably set me off. Thank God for cooler heads. Just saying.

I will say this, if he is guilty of this charge, dude has thrown away a career, and most importantly has left this young lady with a life long horrible experience that will never go away. I have no sympathy for a rapist, two things I despise are child molesters and rapist. Whomever they find guilty in this case needs to be put under a jail cell, and if the police department was covering things up, they need to clean house there also. This is a cluster fudge of an investigation.

I thought I read that the physical evidence was taken from her as part of the rape kit at the time she reported it, but no match was made then because they had not obtained a sample from Winston.

"A DNA analysis completed by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement on Tuesday confirmed that DNA provided by Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston matched the sample taken from the underwear of the woman who has accused him of sexual battery.

According to the DNA analysis report, a copy of which was viewed by ESPN.com on Wednesday, the Florida state crime lab determined the chance of the DNA in the woman's underwear being a match for someone other than Winston was one in 2.2 trillion."

Exactly. From the ESPN Article

"Police obtained a sexual assault kit on Dec. 7, 2012, when the accuser reported the alleged incident had occurred at an off-campus apartment. Winston's DNA was recently obtained through a buccal swab he provided to authorities investigating the case."

Reports are that the TPD never took a sample from him at all and this recently taken sample is the first taken form him.
