🏈 Its time to burn the redshirt from Barnett

Our o-line got abused. It was painful to watch.

This for me, is the most important issue of this team right now. I am not totally sure if Cristobal isn't doing his job well enough to teach (he is a mad scientist recruiter) the zone blocking,

OR

Quite possibly, is the play calling keeping them from really doing what they are bred to do?...That is meat grinding the other team is rushing the football. Our guys are certainly built that way but the calls are not favoring this type of play. The last time we really just said, screw it, we are going to pound it, was UGA in the SEC CG & when we realized how soft ND was, we just kept going. Heck, even Nussmier didn't really commit to the run until after halftime against UGA... so we have the personnel but do we have the tenacity & patience to let it runs its course in the game.

This was one of the gripes folks had against McElwain, he was too vanilla & we just needed a game manager at QB....Noooo, he just let the physicality of the game run its course. It is hard to see a team getting crushed physically until late in the game. We tend to want more eyewash than substance to the heart of this game...being physical... that is something play calling cannot win out in the end of game. If your boys are beat up, there is literally nothing you can do about it. This ALMOST happened to Ole Miss... but 5 turnovers played its part.

when we realized how soft ND was, we just kept going.

That was a beautiful thing to watch .. Hapless ND, and Te'o getting trampled by Lacy. Good times.

O-line is my biggest area of concern right now as well. The Eagles dicked it up by dropping Mathis and Herremans and now our O-line is a joke .. Stoutland has nothing to work with, so we should just give him back to Alabama.

I think I'll trust the coaching staff. This was a team loss. Turnovers always translate to points for the opponent, putting undue pressure on an inexperienced qb. Coker seems to be the most appropriate choice. I hope they can keep him patient. Those missed deep and or interceptions can be corrected with coaching and confidence.

Funny twitter response of a Bama fan... That awkward moment when you realize that the best qb in the state of Alabama is at Jacksonville State!

I don't think we should start BB, no, and that wasn't the message of my post. JC is the QB, no question after Sat. Night. I just think BB should get some good game time reps any get him ready for next year and make damn sure that the universe knows who Alabama's starting QB is.

I don't think it would have mattered who was under center. Our Offensive Line got the brakes beat off of them. Ole Miss was VERY GOOD up front. Our D Line took them to school as well. I honestly think Coker was sick, hence the start by Bateman. It is also the first time in a long time that I remember thinking that the other team was bigger than we were. We can beat them, but not if you spot them 24 points.

Agreed that Coker's runs were ugly. It looks like the football weighs 50 pounds when he is running with it. He needs the nick-name of Clydesdale.

Ugly but extremely effective...........I'll take it.

One thing about Coker.......over the summer Crimson Boz spoke a lot about how his decision making was always a split second late. He made a lot of throws behind receivers and seemed to be late on several......but the very next play he would make a pristine throw and lead the receiver perfectly. I think he will be fine, we just need to saddle up and ride this horse.

That was what I was saying in my post. Start Jake from state farm, but lets get BB some playing time and run some read option. QB draws, get him some ACTUAL game experience or we will be right back here next year making the same mistakes as far a forcing the ball and etc

I heard Phil Sims say once talking about some NFL team, "when you have two quarterbacks what it really means is you don't have one. "

I think that is about where we are or were. Now that JC is the named starter maybe he'll find his groove.

If you bring him in to early, you could mess him up for the future. It appears he needs a year in the weight room before being subjected to SEC defensive lines on a weekly basis. In addition to the possibility of physical injury, it can mess with a player mentally if you try to bring him in before he is ready.

Be patient. The sky has not fallen yet.
