🏈 Question about how we will prepare for the playoffs

My question though is if we have a healthy arm delivering the ball, that woukd help open the game up for the quarterback and run game, correct? I also think there is more leash for a backup than a starter. Tua struggled against Georgia to start, but grew up quick. Not saying it's the answer, but I don't wanna use an injured quarterback as an excuse.
Doesnt matter who we use at QB.. gotta establish running game.

I was talking more about the mental part... Saban had that "rat poison" speech to get the guys more focused on what matters, does Deboer have anything like that? I think in years past, the team could lose focus and Saban would return them back to being focused. What I want to know is can Deboer do the same? We played so much better earlier in the year and then we fell off the map... can he get us back on track in less than 2 weeks?

No. It's code for putting in a backup QB with very little game experience against a defense like OU's, auburn's, or UGA's is asking for disaster when the OL is beat up, there's no reliable run game to speak of, and your most experienced RB is out along with a top weapon at TE. Oh, and 3 of the 4 games against these teams are/were on the road.

No doubt. Terrible place to be.
But if a QB has had enough contact
Is he more valuable or less valuable than fresh legs n arm
If a player cant give it their all. Mentality or physically for any reason.
What do u do?

Not saying this applys to TY. Hopefully he has had his awful game of his life outta the way. And we will see the TY that was considered the Heisman Trophy winner. That led the Tide with brilliance and strength. The TY that's healthy and mentally together.

What do u do?

I disagree with this basic premise. After the first game the team improved significantly until defenses adjusted and injuries occurred. Offense had one of its better games against OU except for stupid turnovers. The defense has definetly improved and sustained it. The offense has fallen off big time after the OU game.

With all that said I think we are looking for why they are playing poorly now... Never just one thing but coaches do not get off scott free...
Understand, but I must be missing where the running game improved significantly after the first game. I do agree, defenses did adjust, they saw a team that couldn't run the ball and started teeing off on our passing game, and to date, we haven't done anything about it 13 games in. This makes it hard to believe it will change on game 14... imo.

It does if the quarterback can make a team respect the passing game. Right now no one respects either.
Let's say Mack starts the game instead of Ty. Does Grubb adjusts game plan to fit Mack's skill set in the game? Imo, he won't.

Does Mack have better results in the game? Maybe, maybe not. Especially against Oklahoma defense, that's a big if.

Last game Simpson threw 326 yards and Hill rushed for 60 yards averaging 4.0.

I feel like Mack is good but he won't have same success in the game. Imo, he doesn't see what Ty Simpson sees with defense coverage.

Establish the running game, and get it going. You do that, you take lot of pressure off Simpson and allow him to find grooves. Same for Mack.

This is my ideal Situation. I would love for us to be up by 21 points so we can pull Simpson and let Mack get some series in work him in..name at same time Simpson get extended rest.

I don't disagree with anything you're saying here. The logic behind it works, for sure. My issue is Ty isn't even hitting the swing routes out of the backfield. His throws are coming up short on most routes he's throwing when he leaves the pocket. I only state that if he's hurt, put in a healthy body and see what happens. If we lose to Oklahoma again with Ty underwhelming everyone again, the question will ultimately be "why didn't you try another quarterback when Ty was hurt and struggling". I've got way more tolerance for that than I do keeping the status quo. Ty has the ability to win the Heisman. We saw that for what I'm gonna say was most of the year. But the drop off has hurt the team. It's the same thing we saw with Milroe last year. And last year I was fine if Simpson stunk it up, because atleast we were exercising options.

Last game, they gamed Simpson's coverage reads, or stole signals, and he threw two picks. Turnovers (three to none) was the only stat we didn't lead. They will adjust and we may have less success, but without the turnovers we win the last game convincingly.

Simpson had a tell. They tricked him into changing coverage that he didn't need to do so. They will do same thing with Mack. He's inexperienced.

All I hope is that they are getting fully healthy and practicing in walkthroughs all week. No need to be doing any hitting this late in the year IMO. Just want a team as healthy as they can be going on the road. I'd love some 7 on 7s to build Ty's confidence up some too. Try to put a clock on him and get him calmer and more collected with decisions.

I'd love the OL coach to be working on technique on how to win 1 v 1 situations and reminding them to not let the defenders have their chests. To get violent on run plays and to make sure they understand how to do proper pass offs in passing situations, to communicate better up front.

Pretty much just hoping we go back to some of the fundamental skills and reinforce good things, get healthy, and come out with a solid gameplan.

That’s all I’m saying or asking also. If you see Ty struggling and you know he’s somewhat injured play another QB.
