🏈 I think it's both safe, and fair, to call this "Gumpin'" for Fan Day Sunday...

I like how he added the kid in the pic to try to make it look like he was there for the daughter, and not himself. But does anyone really think this guy has kids? I bet he rented that "queen by his side".

But which poster is that? SLO? Jryanw?

Must be nice to be able to sit at Bryant-Denny all day and not have to work for the better part of a week. Sure hope he didn't waste vacation days on this.

Hey, I like the Fan Day because it's an opportunity to watch the team and it gives kid's the opportunity to meet some of their favorite players and interact with them for a short period of time. For all of the grown ups retrieving signatures to sell, they can be exiled for all I care. My four year old and two year old enjoyed just running around on the field amongst all the people last year when they were three and one. All in all I enjoy the day, but it is pathetic watching footage of the portion of the fanbase sprinting their ass off to get an autograph knocking over anything in their way. One would think the Backstreet Boys were in town if they didn't know any better.

I haven't been back nor do I want to experience that again.

Likewise, we went only once, in 1993 I think, and it had been raining all day so they moved the "signing" inside the indoor practice facility. We waited in line for Coach Stallings and my son and daughter got his autograph. He shook my and my wife's hands and I asked if we could get a picture with him. He said "sure," I handed the camera to some grad assistant and he snapped our picture with Coach Stallings. Very quickly, Coach Stallings said "take another one, I think I had my eyes closed." The GA took another picture, we thanked Coach Stallings and the GA and moved on. When we got the film developed Coach Stallings was right, his eyes were closed in the first picture.

Besides everything else I appreciate about CGS, I have always appreciated that in spite of the crowd / line he took the time to make sure we had a good photo of him with our family. I've wondered if CNS would do that but then quickly come back to reality and remember that CNS never shuts his eyes.

I've been honored to shake Coach Stallings hand on multiple occasions. He is a great man indeed.
