🏈 I think it's both safe, and fair, to call this "Gumpin'" for Fan Day Sunday...

I'd love for the equipment staff to hand out helmets and pads to the sidewalks wearing Walmart jerseys and make them run through a gauntlet of the defensive lineman to reach the autograph tables. They want to latch onto a team of a sport they never played from a school they never attended, so they should have to earn their bammer fandom.

please excuse my ignorance, but where is it written that you can only be a fan of a school if you attended that school?

are you actually saying that you can't be a fan of ALABAMA, or any other school or team for that matter, unless you attended that school?

what about pro teams? did all those fans attend some sort of school to be able to be a fan of and cheer for them?

and since when do we call each other "bammers"? we are 'BAMA FANS! leave shit like that to the auburn fans and their idiocy. unless you're an auburn fan that is here undercover. in which case, F*** OFF and go back to the farm.

There are people on this very board that didn't play for or attend the university of Alabama and are some of the biggest Bama fans I know and respect! SO, in your expert opinion, how does one go about earning their fandom? Why must we degrade someone for putting themselves out there for something they love? , Just because it goes against the norm? If it makes you feel better then go ahead and ridicule this guy, as for me, I'll just chuckle to myself and applaud his courage.

I don't think the guy was alienating our entire fan base. I just think he was calling out these fans that think they're being noble by being the first fan in line to get an 18 or 19 year olds autograph. There are plenty of gracious fans that have no affiliation with the school that are humble, successful, and giving fans that just don't like the school because we win. BUT, there are plenty out there that have never been on campus, never donated to the school, don't know squat about the program, and only call themselves fans because we win and can talk trash to other fans. I've seen personally where these same people rush the field on Fan Day pushing people out of their way with $1000 worth of merchandise in their hands and bags, breaking lines, and getting this stuff signed only to see them on eBay within a week. I think he's talking about those fans.

True story... Three years ago I was with my daughter in line to get Landon Collins autograph on her mini helmet. The guy and son in front of me were the professional autograph seekers that had all their loot in bags and such. I overheard the dad tell his young son if he could have Collins' gloves. And Collins' actually obliged the kid's request and you should have seen the kid's smile and excitement. Sure enough, three days later I see the exact same gloves with a description of them on eBay for $300. Talk about sleezy and has no reason to be allowed to this, that's what I have seen.

Yall have to understand that bamabrock is himself a "sidewalker" and it shames him so much that he has to lash out in this manner. His post rarely add any value to a topic and are restricted to name calling.

I agree with you people like you describe are scum, but that's not at all what Bamabrock was talking about. He has a long reputation on WA. Just about every post he makes is about "sidewalkers."

I don't understand the problems people have with people getting paraphernalia and selling it. Sounds like a nice little racket. Far be it for me to judge anyone, but if there's a crazy person in this situation it isn't the guy asking for gloves but the ones that would pay $300 for them. But then again I don't collect memorabilia or anything else for that matter.

I'm 100% positive there's something you'd pay money for that others would scoff at.

I'm Sure.
Some scoff at me for paying to see a football game I could watch on tv.
Some scoff because I drink wine.
But I don't buy memorabilia. I don't take photos to remember places I've been for the most part.
My response was not focused on what people buy as much it was directed at the outrage of someone asking for LC's gloves and then putting them for sale on line.

Now... I've never been a jock sniffer.
I like college football, but why would I want gloves somebody else wore? Or someone else's championship ring? Just never made sense to me.
