🏈 DeBoer's future at Alabama and the most likely path ahead (from my perspective)...

If we can recover from Dubose, Shula, Price then we can recover from CKD. I still believe he and this team is somewhere between what we saw Saturday and what many informed and knowledgeable people that when they observed the preseason practices. So my conclusion it it is not going to be Bama standard but not aweful like we saw Saturday. All wish and hope, time will tell.
10 years assuming we hire the GOAT

Just curious, would we have to pay the full buyout up front?

Might not have to, it would probably end up being a chunk of it due almost immediately and the rest paid out over a few years. Depends on how the contract is worded and how it would then get negotiated from there. The problem is, the number is so large.... lump sum or payment plan, it would put UA in a terrible spot for the foreseeable future. And yes, other sports would suffer from it... trickle down style.

I just looked at the contract, I think we could pay him a monthly sum(still not sure what that would be).... problem is, we'd be paying him until fucking 2030/2031 if we did that. I'll look into it more tomorrow, just because I'm genuinely curious what all is in his contract.... but this shit is ridiculous.

And just a little information I found while searching this is if Kentucky were to fire Stoops, they'd have to pay everything up front. $37.5 million I believe.

I think that's what we all hoped for. When DeBoer was hired, I thought we'd have a top 10 offense and a great Xs and Os HC. Seems like Alabama has fallen off in a lot of areas since 2020.
CNS had 1 game the last 5 seasons where we scored 17 or less. It was 17 against South Florida his last season in the rain with that Notre Dame QB starting for us.

CKD has already had 4 games of his 14 where we scored 17 or less. It doesn’t make sense why we aren’t scoring.

The sky isn’t falling. As miserable as it looks, nothing would be done until later in the season when all hope is gone. Even then, the financials just say no. Tweak this and push that and Alabama could end up 11-1. Sit tight and hold on.
If we sleepwalk thru Saturday with a sloppy 28-17 type game, then lose to Wisky and UGA the next two weeks, I think some of @Brandon Van de Graaff ’s talk of $70 million might be raised quickly.

Kind of irritating to me at least that DeBoer  has to make staff changes in order to succeed. Like Saban for example, was sort of held back with less than desirable coordinators (Golding and O'Brien), but Alabama still was in an debatable position to make a case for the playoffs.
Conversely, it's been my opinion Saban needed to make staff changes for more success than we've seen.

Alabama paying $70 million to get rid of a head coach in year 2.
I'd need to find the copy of the contract just to be sure. I'm 99 percent positive that's not a lump sum like we've seen other contracts with dismissed coaches. I'm thinking it's monthly through the length of the contract.

It's still a huge amount of debt...somewhat more manageable if I'm right in how I remember the structure of the deal.

You probably need to clarify the statement for me.

1. We just hired him last year. We had a transition season.

2. But at same time we had a fallen off in some area since 2020. Did you mean to say in general or to ckd?

Yes payments are deferred after an initial amount. That would make it easier to come up with the money over time and easier on the budget in some ways. But still, spreading out that amount of money over the course of the contract while still having to pay similar money to a new coach and still keep up in other areas… it would be beyond damaging to UA.

If this slide continues, my hope is staff changes can make a big difference. They'd have to be the right one's of course, or they may just be swapping problems for problems. But I'm personally not too worried about the offense, other than the OL not reaching their potential. Most all of my concerns are centered on and around the defensive side of the ball. And again, totally my opinion, but I think a lot of the outrage about DeBoer's sideline demeanor, how he answers questions from the media, etc... is mostly irrelevant clutter.

One would think instead of ponying up $70M, you load up on NIL and just buy your talent. Gotta have a plan and direction to profit off that bought talent, but getting an Anthony Hill, Colin Simmons, and Ederick Houston would be better than what we are showing. Makes me sick even making that comment because I personally feel NIL is the reason we are in this mess and why we don't have those Allen's, McCarron's, Foster's, Anderson's, Wiliams' etc anymore.

Nothing would piss me off more though than having a guy hold our program hostage with average coaching due to money. That would have me calling for Byrne's head as well.

Hey now, I try to stay in my lanes. I’ve never pretended to be fluent in contracts and such.

Come on guys, don’t bite my head off when I merely ask questions about topics I admittedly know little about! Jeez haha.

I'd imagine we are going to see a lot of this type of stuff pop up... and the "rumor" that you screen shatted on the other thread. Anytime Bama faces adversity or hard times, it starts to bubble up from all over. And Bama has never been this far on the ledge during the social media and podcast days, so I expect it to get wild out there if DeBoer and the team don't find their footing.
