| LIFE CV-19: Effects on life, work, and sports

...an interesting read if you have time.

Chang updates his position here: The Coming Collapse of China: 2012 Edition

A little more contemporary view is a quick read by Joe Nye, "Is the American Century Over?". It's just 125 pages, not counting the great resources for further reading and end notes. Last year, I was able to spend about an hour and a half listening and being able to ask questions of Nye. He's an interesting fellow. Your post prompted me to go back and read my notes of his talk and the Q&A.

Kay Ivey said no restaurants can open yet

Slowly reopening in GA. Yesterday was my youngest's birthday, so we had our first sit down dinner out since this started. Just went to Carrabba's, party of five. They're essentially seating every other table, servers masked and gloved. One way in, one way out, no seating at bar. My favorite spot in Midtown, Cypress Street Pint & Plate, is reopening today with patio service only. I'm in the office, so I'll definitely wander down there to support them.

We had breakfast at a restaurant in Celina yesterday. It was a nice and needed change.

We've been supporting a few of our local favorites by getting takeout. Looking forward to getting back to the patios.

My wife's work is considering documenting when employees have COVID-19. Do they document those with AIDS, the flu, pneumonia, etc? Big time overreach...

You mentioned Celena. Weird question, but has your wife or daughter heard of The Glam Gypsy? She is an online boutique in Celina, very sweet gal (husband went to Alabama and son is currently at South Alabama and transferring to The Capstone), and she has bought some hats and supported me very nicely on Instagram.

I thought this was a pretty good quote that provides a long-term perspective on our short-term disruption:

"Well, we’ve taken $2 trillion out of the economy potentially with these shutdowns, but the government is putting more than $2 trillion back into the economy. I hate to say it, but we’ve been here before. This is not even our first time with a pandemic. This country has had pandemics roughly every 50 years since 1776, and we’re still here."
