| LIFE CV-19: Effects on life, work, and sports

No one spit in your face, man.
I've never said anything (through this account) on that medium to you. I've sat back and read your commentary.

What are you trying to hide? (And please. Don't repeat this "personal account" line. The name of your paper is in your username. You put it there purposefully so you'd be associated with a media publication.)

This shit? ....it's done a number on you.

The mask just needs to be worn when interacting with people in a public place outside of a home or a personal vehicle.

BIRMINGHAM – Anyone venturing out into Birmingham will now have to cover their faces following the Birmingham City Council unanimously voting to approve an ordinance that orders all people aged 2 or older to wear face masks out in public.

The ordinance passed 9-0.

The masks must always be worn when interacting with people outside of their homes. The Birmingham City Council defined a face covering as, “a device to cover the nose and mouth of a person to impede the spread of saliva or other fluids during speaking, coughing, sneezing or other intentional or involuntary action. Medical grade masks are not required; coverings may be fashioned from scarves, bandanas or other suitable fabrics. The mask must cover the mouth and nose of the wearer.”

The ordinance pertains to all individuals over the age of 2; however, the face does not have to be covered during individual outdoor exercise, which encompasses walking and jogging, patients in examination rooms or if wearing a mask poses a mental health or physical health safety risk to the wearer (trouble breathing, incapacitated, among others).

The mask just needs to be worn when interacting with people in a public place outside of a home or a personal vehicle.

The fine can be up to $500 and/or up to 30 days in the municipal jail, should someone decide to disregard the order.

The ordinance will take effect on May 1, 2020.

No. 1, Terry, you don't have a say in what I do or do with my own social media. No. 2, you quoting my Tweets or Retweets on here to try and start nonsense - with your burner account no less - is why I blocked you.

Oh, that's rich. I've been posting with my real name since the beginning of message forums on the Internet: to the date when AOL was the only one hosting such. In the middle of the 1990's if you want a date to reference.

You haven't blocked shit, Josh. Just the RTB account.

I do enjoy this little narrative you've chosen to create. It's captivating.

@TerryP @BamaBoyJosh You need to chill out and enjoy this social distancing. Didn't know it applied to a forum though. It is our fundamental freedoms that our government is trying to take away. All of us need to focus on that. I like reading both of your posts because both of you make me LOL. Roll Tide

Bah, now Costco will require facemask
Headline: The CDC reports a spike in asthma cases.

To protect our members and employees, effective May 4, all Costco members and guests must wear a mask or face covering that covers the mouth and nose at all times while at Costco. This requirement does not apply to children under the age of 2 or to individuals who are unable to wear a mask or face covering due to a medical condition.

Twitter is so much sniping at strangers and pandering to celebrities. Beyond its ability to spread the word on issues/individuals deserving exposure, largely rendering local TV and papers irrelevant in that regard, it's a useless pursuit for the multitudes.

Tell me about those fundamental freedoms our government it trying to take away.

It isn't just trying....for one stay at home order. Closing this business and not that. No seeds can be bought. All government staying open but government services like parks closed. We the people look to the government for justice but when you look closely you will find just us. Stay free my friend.

I'm not a fan of the government (local, state, or federal) mandating masks, but support businesses mandating it.

I'm in full support of opening up America. We cannot stay inside until there is a vaccine.

POTUS Trump thus far has completely changed how he's handling these daily pressers since suggesting Injection. I still find myself dumbfounded with the suggestion.

@TerryP this is why we have to start making data driven decisions instead of allowing emotions and fear to drive them. I believe the virus is real but we are reacting based on politics and fear. I do not think there is a one size fits all for every location. How you handle things in a high breakout area should be much different than a low breakout area. Just common sense but that does not seem to be what we did. Everything was based on some worse case models trying to prevent overwhelming the medical system. My experience is models vary based on assumptions and are way off initially.

One of the worst things about this whole COVID-19 mess, people are dying in the hospitals alone. I just don't know how the nurses and doctors deliver this message to families. I know this is a heavy burden on them.

In my opinion, this is probably the most heartbreaking part of all of this.

Texas Motor Speedway for graduations! What a great idea.

Nearly two dozen local high schools plan to hold in-person graduation ceremonies for their graduating seniors at Texas Motor Speedway.

Each high school will announce its specific commencement schedule and details in the coming days, according to a press release jointly released by 11 Denton County school districts and charter schools.

Denton ISD will hold graduations for all five of its high schools on May 21-22, according to a separate release sent out by the district Friday morning. All district high schools will hold their ceremonies on the days and times originally scheduled.

"Graduating students and their families will receive additional logistical information about the ceremonies, such as arrival times and parking, directly from their campus leaders in the day ahead," according to the announcement.

Students will collect their diplomas "hands-free" in order to adhere to social distancing guidelines. Families coming to watch the ceremonies are asked to stay in their vehicles to watch from the Texas Motor Speedway infield. Those unable to attend the ceremonies will be able to watch a livestream of the proceedings.

Those in attendance will be able to watch the ceremony on "Big Hoss," a 12-story, 218-foot-wide video board. Students will be wearing caps, gowns and masks as they walk to receive their diplomas.

Argyle, Aubrey, Denton, Krum, Lake Dallas, Lewisville, Little Elm, Northwest, Pilot Point, Ponder and Sanger ISDs will participate in the plan, as well as Westlake Academy.

Texas Motor Speedway is a NASCAR arena located at 3545 Lone Star Circle in a section of Fort Worth within Denton County.

The thing is, we almost had to base every thing on worst case scenario models. There are large swaths of this country that have zero hospitals. The fear that our medical system would collapse if something like what happened with Italy occurred was legit. You're definitely right that a one size fits all approach can't work. People in Birmingham are much, much more tightly compacted and right on top of each other than those in Luverne where it's much more dense. The problem with that, though, is if you just say "Okay we're going to leave this all up to the mayor's and counties to handle it" is there is surely going to end up being some hot spots out there in places that decided to do little to nothing and then it spreads elsewhere. I think Plano said it before, we won't truly know if we over or under played this thing until a year or so down the line. I still personally think if we had acted smarter and quicker in the beginning that it wouldn't have been something that has gone on as long as it has, but that's just my opinion.
