| LIFE CV-19: Effects on life, work, and sports

It's always a amusing to me hearing, reading, and considering criticisms of people who practice medicine.

I haven't had time to look it up but something about the AIDS virus at its beginning, Dr. Fauci, and people giving him hell rings a bell.

The biggest criticism about Pence being put in charge of all of this was his handling of the AIDS epidemic that hit Indiana. I'm just going off my memory from an NPR interview but I believe Pence defunded an HIV testing center and refused to allow needle sharing programs and all of that ended up biting them in the ass. Pence brought on his right hand man from that whole situation but I can't remember if it was Fauci or not.

Why would anyone support a needle sharing program? Typo?

/soapbox moment/

I'm f'ing amazed that the local news shows the first part of the presser and then cuts to normal programming. Yearly we have every news station broadcasting the State of the Union. But we can't find a way to stream this whole thing on all stations. I'm left speechless, this is arguably the most important event that's happened in my lifetime with the exception of 9/11 and we can't find a way to get the entire press conference streamed on all news channels in it's entirety nightly?

/off soapbox/

I'm all for states having rights...but I'm left wondering why the states and counties still have a say as to when shelter in place will be imposed. Dallas county has adopted it and as I understand Collin county and Denton county will be following.

Feels like I'm watching a slow motion train accident and I'm on the damn train as a helpless victim. We're on the verge of a major recession.

I have no faith that this is going to end quickly. I'm losing faith that our leaders have the ability to lead us through this crisis.

Incredibly frustrating.

@planomateo, Thanks man. Yeah, I had heard about the Harvard dude and the chinamen getting busted, that happened a while back. I had not heard about F- Face hoarding all those particle masks. What an asshole.

Also, there are youtube channels that runs every press conference COVID19 updates usually everyday.
Fox 10 out of Phoenix

@footballer

Yeah, I watch them on YouTube.

I just don't understand why they aren't showing the entire presser daily on the local news. This is the most important thing going on right now. People should be watching this daily vs getting the cliff notes from there various sources in the media.

Texas LT Governor Dan Patrick basically saying, we should all go back to work and stop hurting the economy and let people die.

@planomateo on your drive were people paying much attention to the speed limits? There's little traffic on the interstate(s) and it's as if less traffic translates to a desire to drive faster. I was going 75-80 yesterday and people were blowing by me...several had to be at 100mph+.

Nary a cop in site...saw one yesterday. One. And I was on the road at least two hours by car...spent a good hour and a half on my bike yesterday.

Saw a state patrol pull someone over yesterday. He was leaning in the car where the driver was. Looked nasty to me in these times. Went to home depot. They were out of the buggy swipes so I pushed the buggy backwards. When I got home I steam cleaned the car. Boy we are getting crazy with this $hit.

Yeah, people were mostly driving the speed limit, I was driving 5-10 mph over the speed limit most of the way. There were a few times I was driving faster.

I saw cops in Colorado around Fort Collins and in the southern part of the state, New Mexico and Texas. Don't recall seeing any in Montana or Wyoming.

I rented a car to drive from Montana to Texas this past weekend, was cheaper to drive and felt that it was a bit safer, although that's up for debate. The added benefit to driving is I get to carry a friend and I don't end up in the news like Q.

I stopped at 3 fast food restaurants along the way - a McDonald's in Butte, a Taco John's in Billings, and a McDonald's in Trinidad, CO. The McDonald's in Trinidad still allowed people into the establishment and they were the only ones whose workers were not wearing gloves in the drive-thru. Yes, I still ate the food...hope I don't regret that decision. Fun fact, Trinidad is apparently the sex-change capital of the US

Toilet paper is an elusive butterfly along with specific cleaning products, I stopped by numerous grocery stores along the way to scout.

I returned the vehicle this morning to Enterprise and they wouldn't let me enter the building, had probably 8 signs outside about COVID-19, and the employee came out with gloves and a mask on. Ironically he took my credit card and gave me my receipt with his dirty gloves still on. He was touching his mask with his gloved hand, adjusting it around his head. I find myself wondering, are his hands and his environment safer than mine?

Traffic from Fort Collins to Colorado Springs was still heavy. This is one of my least favorite places to drive, keep in mind - I've driven in Dallas for 18 years, San Diego for 9 and visited LA, San Francisco easily 30+ times over the years.
Use to visit an uncle that lived in Raton, NM back in the day (mid 90's :p )... he was a member at the Trinidad golf course....played it many times, arguably one of the best 9 hole courses I've ever played. That's the view of Fisher's Peak from one of the fairways...beautiful scenery.

@PurlJam that area is beautiful. I love New Mexico, especially the food. A close friend of mine lives in ABQ, we try to visit once a year if we can.

Crazy to see Elk yellow warning signs on I-25 driving from Trinidad to Raton.

I know, right? My uncle actually hit one of these said bull Elk on his way to work one evening. He said the wrecker had to hook up to the Elk and move it before he could hook up to his truck (which it totaled)...weighed in around 800 lbs.

Sir, the MSM have an agenda that is not friendly or helpful in any way to President Trump.
