| LIFE CV-19: Effects on life, work, and sports

I'm going to have to read the article when time permits. Did you notice how often she is citing things? This has to be an interesting read.

@OldPlayer, joking with a friend earlier ...

"It's Trump's idea to kill those over a certain age. Weed out the older folk. Then, they'll call it saving social security."

WHO report on China. https://www.who.int/docs/default-so...na-joint-mission-on-covid-19-final-report.pdf

Mortality increases with age, with the highest mortality among people over 80 years of age (CFR 21.9%). The CFR is higher among males compared to females (4.7% vs. 2.8%). By occupation, patients who reported being retirees had the highest CFR at 8.9%. While patients who reported no comorbid conditions had a CFR of 1.4%, patients with comorbid conditions had much higher rates: 13.2% for those with cardiovascular disease, 9.2% for diabetes, 8.4% for hypertension, 8.0% for chronic respiratory disease, and 7.6% for cancer

Here's an interesting picture. There's only a few options there, right? Upper management, Walmart? Or perhaps a vendor?

A bit ironic seeing the Creighton basketball games...at CHI Health Center.

Be safe my friends. My school superintendent here in the system I teach in, told me that we should expect an announcement from the POTUS in the next 36-48 hours that will send shockwaves throughout the country. Superintendent is a retired Lt Colonel in the Air Force and he still has some friends in the know.

Not in Ace.

Just weird coincidences ... needed a little caulk after installing new bathroom floors. Not much, mind you, one of those "squirt" type sizes. They had it at Family Dollar. But, no tp or paper towels.

Ran to Ace to buy some stain for the shoe molding around the vanity. They had, shelves full, of tp and paper towels. More in the back.

All that said, I do LOVE my local Ace; Duncan's. Within an 1/8th of a mile I've picked up stain, propane, and beer...all owned by the same guy. The GM at that store...been there 15+ years. Good fella. I put in a drainage/pump system in the yard a few years ago, didn't buy anything from him, but looked at what he had first. He stopped by, literally, two times a day just to see how I put the system in.

Luckly, around these parts, there's some very good hardware stores. Grayco ... top notch. You'll have six to eight ask you if you need help before getting out of that place.
I do same here...its not a ACE....but local...still give me my military discount....like Lowes....they know me by name...i know all them by name...
Things may be a touch higher..but less driving...
And ...i also....own no stock....

Would take a lot to shock me right now....
I expect drastic actions for containment......
Glad i live in small semi-isolated town?..
See what POTUS....does

I expect public airplane travel to be about totally shut down by the feds this week. I can see possible opening of some form of welfare/UBI for the entire public regardless of need for a short period.

On a side note, one local sheriff has stopped issuing gun carry permits. Seems like a really interesting time to stop people from being able to decide to defend themselves.

IMO, this can only mean one thing. Trump has given into Fauci and will proceed with an Italy/Spain style lock down. Martial law, perhaps?

Here's a "pro tip" for ya! 🙃

A few weeks ago I bought ten bags of cypress mulch and ten bags of potting soil. Things like that are a Lowe's trip—a dollar a bag difference on mulch versus two extra miles driving. Soil, pretty much the same.

Here's the tip ... order that stuff online. You don't—well, at least I haven't—had to push the freakin' cart through the store. Three cases/packs of flooring for two bathrooms I'm remodeling ... didn't have to push that cart. LIterally, both times, right at the door ... maybe 20 yards to the truck.

Back to the thread ...

An Italy style shut down would allow a lot of time to get work done on the house ... and Lowe's will be closed.
