Clay Travis has solved the NFL's national anthem problem.

I imagine Travis had fired one up as he was tweeting...

Clearly, as I would imagine the only time Travis a decently coherent thought is when he's blitzed out of his mind...

And for the guy that quoted Travis in that Tweet, the NFL (and other sports) is just following suit with the stupid laws. Want weed laws to change? Do away with for-profit prisons. The prison lobbyists (and big pharma) are no longer pouring millions into politicians pockets and they would have no incentive to keep it illegal anymore, especially given the tax benefits.

Come on...seriously....for profit prisons are the problem with drugs...seriously...
Don’t respond...please...just let it go...geeze

I think the NFL is already regretting their brand new anthem policy. To unilaterally put out a mandate without going through the player's union is a recipe for failure. And then telling grown men to go stand in the shower instead of standing up for their convictions on something this volatile and personal was never going to have a happy ending.

And when the presidential tweets start flying exacerbating the situation, the NFL is really going to wonder what went wrong with their plan.

Yes, 100%. Unless you think it's a good thing that we're turning entire generations of non-violent drug offenders (many on weed charges) into career criminals so that we can line the pockets of rich people...

And if you didn't want me to respond shouldn't have quoted me. Geeze.

Are you discussing private prisons? Elaborate for the masses.
One move Obama made was legislation to roll back on private prisons. Jeff Sessions killed that. (He's a true idiot when it comes to his stance on the legalization of cannabinoids.)

If you've watched OITNB that's a story about a state institution going private. It's fictional, of course, but does address some salient points that are true in real private facilities.

"The House I Live In" is a good documentary that touches on it some, too. It was on Netflix but not sure if it still is.

I was actually thinking about that when I mentioned OITNB. I kept coming back to Oz knowing that wasn't right.

I believe I saw it on YouTube, or maybe Tubi. It wasn't Netflix...that, I know (not saying it wasn't there.) Hulu may have it now as well.

O thought you would see how ridiculous it sounded....
Guess not

@50+yeartidefan, The thing is the suggestion isn't ridiculous. It's (the for profit system) not the main reason. But there is no denying they make their money (profit) when their head count reaches a certain number. They are lobbying congressional members and it is in their best interest to see the federal laws remain as they are.

(He's a true idiot when it comes to his stance on the legalization of cannabinoids.)
What drives you to say that?
A myriad of reasons.

If you're a supporter of Sessions the term idiot fits because his stance(s) are empowering those who are in support of decriminalization.

The narrative he's pushing about questioning the medicinal benefits is ludicrous. In this narrative it's their suggestion that the recreational users are the driving force behind decriminalization despite the multitudes of doctors, patients, et. al. who can prove its benefits.

Death penalty for people who are convicted of trafficking marijuana? Seriously?

What really gets me is the notion that the legalization of one won't reduce the abuse of opioids. Once again, the facts dispute such.

As to Clay's suggestion--which I firmly believe was tongue in cheek--would you be surprised if some in the NFL agreed with him? Personally, I wouldn't.

@BamaBoyJosh

It isnt the facility that sentences offenders....the facility just holds them...
This is ridiculous.... the court and judge do the sentencing....send them away...
Whatever...
And Terry..everything is lobbied... sure there is profit but in long run cheaper than State operating more holdings facilities.....
and not a lot ..if any casual users in there...its pushers...habitual criminals...

I despise what lobbying has become. Have a few family members that are powerful DC lobbyist. I also don't agree that our political leaders can leave office and make millions selling their stories and giving speeches.

Our government mismanages many many areas it's responsible for. I see why privatization of prisons would be a good idea, but I can also see the negatives with it.

This whole anthem mess is a cluster. As I've said before, I don't agree with how it's being handled by the players or the NFL.
