Who will be the breakout/surprise player this year? I think that Coffee surprised some people last year. Who will be Glen Coffee this year? I am curious to hear your thoughts.

Just as one example, I think we see a lot of Zo Washington this fall.

Not sure if this qualifies, but Hightower is going to blow it up this year. He was good last year but was still a bit reserved or timid in a lot of plays. I think he turns it up a couple notches this year. I also think Marcel Dareus and Upshaw have big years for us on the line.

This definitely doesn't count cause he had one of the most impressive years I've seen from UA cornerback last year, but I think Javier Arenas will be one of the top corners in the country this year. Probably because of his special team skills, people don't seem to realize he has 1st round potential as a corner.

I think we can all assume Richardson has a breakout year. He's the Julio of rbs.

I have high hopes for McElroy. He's certainly got a few nice targets, including Julio. If he can get good pass protection blocking from the OL and our running game can force the defenses to respect it, I believe he could stun some people...I keep thinking back to that pass against Auburn. Man, that was nice. If he could do that consistently, then watch out!



Oh yeah, this quote by Kirby Smart is encouraging!!

On quarterback play this spring: "Greg McElroy did a great job in the spring. In our two minute drill he scored every time against our defense, and we are suppose to have a pretty good defense. Greg did a great job against those guys."

I good not agree with you more! Those high school (state championship?) video clips that floated around recently were amazing. The man can play!

TP........I hope you are correct. While Zo has been a steady player for us, I have always had high hopes for him. For some reason guys like him and Huber that leave their home state that has a strong football tradition and come to us really have a soft spot in my heart.

As far as break-out player. If Upchurch is healthy and does indeed make it back, he will be the guy. He will have gone from "Irrelevant Roy" to starter. I'm still up in the air as to whether or not he makes it back.
