šŸ€ Auburn has self-imposed a basketball penalties [Update: NCAA penalties announced today]

It's why I selfishly wanted more. Infractions aside, hiring Pearl while he was under a show cause was brazen. But then ending up mired in a major infractions case while he's the HC... if that had been Alabama, I'd have been having NCAA hammer PTSD issues. But, I get that the NCAA isn't what it used to be in terms of its bite, and Sankey doesn't want his teams on postseason bans or getting their clocks cleaned (which helps). The LSU case is the one I'm really interested in, in terms of punishment. IMO, they deserve the worst.
Hiring of Pearl was a flaunt in the face of the ncaa....
Like keeping Dye an office....
Naming field after him (what did he really ever do...beat bama/bear ....got game moved toAU....all would have happened anyway....).
Never saw why he was such a great hero to them...
And on audio tape cheating...ok...maybe they
Like that...

They really don’t care....Pearl is proof...i dont think there many that wanted Pearl at bama ...i suredidnt

Okay. Post a link, will ya? Like I said, I've been in the 'book. It'll save others searching for more on the story.
Sorry, work stuff got in the way for a bit. :)

I don't have a direct link. I asked one of the reporters directly how he got clarification and from whom on what that phrasing "the program must reduce the total number of scholarships by two during the term of probation" meant. He got the explanation directly from Auburn.

That’s not even a wrist slap, and I’d say that if it were Bama getting penalized. What do you fans think, Tiger?
I think most are relieved. They accepted all of our self-imposed penalties and added a few on top of it. I think they would have rioted if it had been anything significantly more, given how they are handling Kansas, LSU and Arizona.

The NCAA specifically mentioned that they accepted our postseason ban without adding another year because we imposed it prior to the season starting last year, not later after it was apparent we wouldn't make it. A sub .500 record wasn't really expected last year either but came about because of the NCAA dragging their feet on Sharife Cooper, then Justin Powell's injury - we just never had a real point guard to run the offense. So doing it before the season started was the right move from the NCAA perspective.

A thought I'll proffer. This isn't a PR hit on the Auburn basketball program. College basketball fans have already made their mind up about Bruce Pearl figuratively leaving him wearing Teflon (that would be sweaty to wear, don't you think?)

I find this to be a strange flex and perhaps defense? I know what a lot of fans think about Cam, Auburn, and the NCAA. That includes thoughts of fans outside of the SEC.

^^^ R McGlynn should be the highest paid boog athletic employee. Navigating through the stench that was CNewton and now this basketball ā€œhuman traffickingā€ ranks right up there in importance with anything ever accomplished there. Having worked for the NZAA, I suspect he has pics/videos of the NZAA staff. Or maybe there just a lot of farm animals changing hands?
