picked this up on twitter yesterday... disregard for your own self-imposed restriction.

so does this mean that FSU isn't the hot ticket anymore, I've read we are still recruiting him hard.

The documents show that Auburn agreed to self-impose a 60 day restriction on staff contacts—both on- and off-campus—with prized Hueytown Quarterback Jameis Winston. The restriction was to begin the first week of November 2011 and run through January 2012. Both the SEC and the NCAA agreed to deal and the matter was dropped from further consideration.

However, as also reported here yesterday, the prospective student-athlete told recruiting analysts that Auburn coaching staff visited him in his home Sunday night, in apparent violation of the terms of that agreement:

The name of the school should explain it all. Throw in 2 (Taylor and Luper)of the 3 assistants in there and we're back to our very own whipping boy, The Barn. After watching the interview of Malzahn's wife, her comments about Gus calling recruits "all of the time" and your welcome to other schools and the NCAA make alot of sense!!

The offer has not been pulled, he'll be enrolling in January

Wait a minute I thought Kiehl Frazier was the future then it was Zeke Pike. Now possibly Winston and breaking your own self-imposed sanctions? Too many futures and now unimposing the self-imposed sanctions? I can't keep Auburn's desire to do anything above board straight.

Bama signed Simms as their future, then ran at Gunner and Jameis--teams need multiple QBs. Kiehl is still our next guy. Zeke most likely redshirts next year and starts out as back-up to Kiehl, who will then be a junior, as a redshirt sophomore. Zeke will have two years to play after Kiehl graduates. Our "future" hasn't changed. The staff is trying to avoid getting caught with their pants down at QB as we did this year. I fail to see what you imply the problem is with recruiting multiple QBs. If a top flight QB is interested in your school, why wouldn't you recruit him?

As for Winston, I have no idea what the hell is going on but there is NOTHING wrong with signing Kiehl last year and Zeke this year. Did you see our QB play this year? That is why we want all we can get. The only thing not "above board" appears to be visiting Jameis. Kiehl and Zeke are sound decisions.

I dont' know if I would agree with that comment. The Frazier kid looked like a lost pup from day one. The Pike kid seems to have some character issues (look to suspension last year, 2 suspensions this yr I believe, and his FB postings from earlier).

I see no problem in going after multiple QBs. Most times though, you are going after 1 QB per class. This yr is different in that you are looking at Winston possibly being 1st round baseball and you could potentially never see him on your campus. I think you have to evaluate character just as much as on talent alone.

Of course Kiehl looked like a lost pup. He was a late arrival and forced to watch early in camp and he clearly was given a very short leash.

I still have no idea what is going on with Winston. I think Zeke will get his head screwed on straight. His suspension is still shrouded in rumor. He denies whatever it is that happened. If I remember correctly he was ejected earlier in the year. I think coming to campus in January so he's only with his older teammates and has more time to get acclimated he will at least straighten his attitude.

As for Kiehl, it was heavily implied by Malzahn that had he been an early enrollee, he would've had a better shot at meaningful PT. He looked lost but I think part of that was due to the limited time he had and the fact he was only meant as a role player this year. There is a lot of talk that he will start the bowl game

Duder, you have been a steady contributor on here and I appreciate your honesty. Frazier would have been better served taking a RS rather than getting in for spot duty like he did.
I told a buddy of mine that as a football fan in general, I was very disappointed in the quality product that was on display there Saturday and that if I was him, I'd be pissed. The staff there has under-achieved in developing the talent there. If you bring in 3 Top 5 classes, you have to expect to have somes losses in personnel along the way and the young pups must get their feet wet early. They allowed most of those guys to sit and watch last year and it has bitten them in the ass. It is either a lack of coaching, poor evaluation, or both.

First, as far as Kiehl I guess I've been listening to my auburn hubby/his family too much. He is the next big auburn hit according to them. Then Pike was recruited, and it was all glorified as well. Then Winston all of the sudden pops into the picture. That would at least throw one Mr. auburn out of the mix be it Kiehl or Pike. I know which one I'd get rid of.

Also, there was never much interest in Winston and interest from him in auburn until now (if there is from his side I still don't know). Now maybe he called auburn and said "please recruit me, I watched that mess at the Iron Bowl and I can help immediately". Last I knew he was down to FSU, Alabama and LSU. Why the big push now when there was no interest from either side before?

Unfortunately, we had no choice. He CLEARLY needed a redshirt year. I ask again, did you see our QBs?

Cam was recruited to be a two-year player. We never saw him blowing up like that and we got caught with our pants down. Mosely and Trottershiuld be back-ups.

We didn't progress on O at all, I agree. QBs and OL arguably got worse as the season wore on. Weak team leadership and lack of experience coupled with a staff caught off guard by how bad we were in key positions...

Yeah, we do that. We are looking for our new Cam. Remember how highly touted Kodi was...

Winston initially had us on his list and the impermissible contact took us off of him. We were interested in the beginning and he at least listened but who knows where we'd be if we could have stayed recruiting him. We may not have landed him but this late in the game it'd be nigh impossible.

Why would anybody recruit a kid that is more than likely going baseball right after the draft? Be it Auburn or Alabama or Florida State or any other dang school.

You have to hold out hope that education and football might possibly hold more weight in the family than turning to a pro baseball career.

Russell Wilson, anyone? Have you seen Winston's arm?

Bama and AU both have other QBs in this class so if we whiff, or sign and lose him, no harm no foul. But if either lands him....

AU: Kiehl, Zeke, Jameis, Clint
UA: AJ, Phillip, The Texas Kid, Jameis

As long as he isn't your only QB there's no downside to trying him. Especially when our offense went from averaging 40+ pts/game to 6 first downs/game, we better offer everyone.

As I have said before, his baseball status at this point would not be a first rounder, though how he performs in the spring could certainly change that. Even second or third round money is a lot of money though. If he were my kid I would tell him to pursue baseball first. If that does not work out he can always come back and give football a whirl. A football injury, on the other hand, can easily limit the baseball potential.

Anyone who thinks they have a shot at landing this youngster will hold a scholarship for him. He might not be a difference maker year one, but he will be one early in his career.
