Kirby. He's over ¾ of a million a year as it is...I'm hearing he's looking at 1MM plus this upcoming season. Well deserved.

In March of last year Coach McElwain received a raise that bumped his annual compensation to $510,000 per. (FWIW, he received just over 80K in bonuses last season.)

I'm of the understanding we're bringing in Nuss at 600K per year. Not sure the length of his contract, but I'm guessing we'll have his first one at two years.

FWIW, Saban is very positive when it comes to his goals for Nuss and AJ next season.

Positive, but demanding.

I actually googled something we were just talking about on HST Terry and this thread came up in the search. Now, I gotta go back to HST and answer your question about Smith, Saban, and Nussmeier.

I just came across this Chris and it goes back to the conversation over there as well. If there as a "what's trending on Bama boards" this subject will likely be one this weekend.

OK, that's good stuff right there. That's a good balance for any football coach. The "relater" comment is spot on by John L. Smith. Like I said on HST, I believe Petrino and Saban are both hard asses, but they know how to get the best out of football players. The best compliment I have heard somebody give Petrino is....."He coaches offense like a defensive coach". Meaning he is a hard ass. Although, I watched him change somewhat after the death of Garrett Uekman. The things he said and did after his death I could tell just how much he loves his players. I saw something similar with Saban the way he talked about his players leading up to and after the BCSNCG. I think Petrino got a lot of his coaching philosophy from Smith after being with him after all these years. I'm sure Nussmeier has learned that same philosophy from Smith too.

John L. Smith's coaching tree? Not bad.
