No offense to Mr. Applewhite.....

But I never really saw anything special about him during the 07 Season. We still ran the ball when we shouldn't had. We still sucked on 3rd downs. We still wern't anything special in the red zone.

If he stays...then i hope he has a huge turn around in 08...if not then he will need to be replaced anyways.

Major never had complete control of the offense, so it isn't really fair to lay all of that on him.

There's another way to look at this: Because Texas is his alma mater, he can't very well dismiss them with a "no thanks" without at least the courtesy of hearing them out first. If only for respect for his former college.

Maybe...

I tend to think that once it's gotten to the stage of the university formally requesting permission to speak with someone that it's usually a foregone conclusion at that point.

Although this is disappointing news, for some reason it's not that surprising. It's got to take a strong man to deal with Saban.....and maybe MA isn't up to the task. A young guy with that much responsibility & pressure is likely to crack.

I say better he jump now than next year. I want him to stay, but if he doesn't think he's up to it, maybe he needs to take a less "stressful" position.

Hopefully Saban is already on the phone.

I don't think the pressure was an issue.

That hurts me in my chestal region. I don't like what is happening here.

It'll be ok man.

if he goes, will pendry just take over completely? or will we hire someone else to replace applewhite?
if so, who do you think we would hire? i just dont like this at all. like someone up top said, you need stability. i would just like to see a coaching staff stay around for a couple of years ya know, kind'a change up the pace a little bit.

Pendry could take over, but I think Saban will probably bring in a new OC. Personally, that is what I'd prefer.
