| FTBL After the last 2 weekends...

& all the upsets...it just goes to show that the pollsters, along w/ everyone else don't know squat & shouldn't mean squat about the outcome of games.

Just let it be solved on the feild of play & let that problem take care of itself!!!!

Playoff's anyone?

No. The last thing we need is the NCAA having more monetary control over football.

Your solution then?

I'm happy with the way it is. Controversy, is part of what makes the season as fun as it is.

Out of what is out there, the plus one doesn't bother me. The NCAA would love to have a playoff. But, the Presidents and Ath. Dir. don't want a part of it. I can't blame them.

Why on earth should a school that ranks 119 out of the group get the same payout as a top 10 school. It would lead to a socialistic approach to payouts in college football.

The playoffs in college football start the first weekend in September. That's what separates college from the NFL. EVERY GAME COUNTS!!!!

We'd like to believe this but sorry no, no dice... otherwise any undefeated team would compete in the NC game.

I could care less about the economic impacts to big/small conferences. I'm for the purity of the outcomes that are determined by the efforts on the playing field. Polls have just blinded us to this issue.

I absolutely agree. It's been long due for Div. 1 to have a playoff.

Here's the problem with that. In a state where the educational system is already failing, we'd have an athletic department searching for money as well. Right now, we are self-sufficient. Chances are, with a system that you are supporting, we wouldn't be.

Why? Would the big money boosters quit donating or would they not be allowed to donate?

How exactly do you think we'd determine who was in the playoff and who wasn't?

Would it be double or single elimination? Ever since Boise State last season, I've been pullin for a playoff system. And even if some one didn't make it all the way through the playoffs, they could still play for a smaller bowl. What I'm sayin is, We don't have to get rid of the Bowl system completely. What I don't agree with, is how a team can't chose it's own destiny with how these matchups are created in these bowl games. I strongly believe Boise State would have had a good shot at Florida last season, had they been given the chance.

What's the difference between D-1 and every other division or collegiate sport?

I'm pro playoff all the way. I thought college sports were about the game, not money. I know that's a joke, but that's how it should be.

Why not take every conference champion and put them in a single elimination bracket. All conferences, not just the so called BCS.

A playoff would be fun to watch but picking still would be based on the same polls that pick the top 2 teams now and Notre Dame would get a automatic bid this year and every year after LOL

Sorry about the late response, I just got back online...

I've got one of many ideas as to the playoff system, mine goes in the following order:

1st. You must be a part of a conference.
2nd. You must win a conference championship game to make it to the next round.
3rd. Follow the traditional playoff system much like NFL or College. Best record teams play poorest record teams or have a bye for ex.
4th. The rest will take care of itself.

Use the bowls to showcase each tier of the playoff.

Just my two cents worth.

All conferences, not just the so called BCS.

Again, that comes back to the dollar aspect. Think about the TV revenue, ticket sales from bowl revenues, etc. Now, take a team like Miami (OH) or UTEP...do either of those teams translate to high ratings?

Heck, we are a couple of years removed from the debt at UAB being in the 6 million range. Who do you think bailed them out? Now, I don't even think they should be able to field a football team if they can't pay for it...

Keep the NCAA out of it and I'd be for a playoff. Heck, I'd even go for a 12 team playoff with the top 2 teams out of the 6 BCS conferences...as long as the NCAA is kept out of it.

I most certainly agree. I wish many schools would have the balls to pull out of the NCAA. They do such a poor job at administering their rules & their doublestandards make me sick.

If we're not gonna have a playoff, I'd just as soon go back to the old bowl system. With the BCS, we know when the season ends who will be in the BCSCG. To me, that takes a little luster off the other bowls. They are important, of course, but not as important as they were when the final polls were decided on the results of the bowls. There was controversy, but there's controversy now. Remember, we won 11 of our 12 titles under the old bowl system. The '92 championship came under the Bowl Coalition. Good argument keeps the fires of competition hot.
