Getting a new roof put on. And today is the day they decided to do it. They were here a little before 7:00 this morning to start. But I don't know what's worse, blazing hot in the middle of summer, or freezing temps in the middle of winter.

I know I can handle cold weather better than I can hot, but DAMN if that cold and wind don't just cut right through you. Props to those guys for getting it done no matter what.

How warm is it supposed to get today and the next few days? Many roofers, here in Ohio, do not roof things when the temperature stays below 35 because the shingles do not seal with the tar underneath the shingle. I really hope you get some warm weather.

Highs: 47, 46, 26, 36, 45, 46, 52, 47, 49
Lows: 27, 26, 15, 13, 22, 26, 32, 33, 26

Yeah it's a full Mexican crew, here. But they do good work and are pretty fast and efficient.
I typed out that question yesterday and then walked away and didn't post. About a year ago I saw two homes get new roofs; identical floor plans between the two homes. One had a four man Mexican crew that were done around 2 that same day. The other crew was four white guys: took them three days (the third final clean up.)

One of the houses is behind me. The other on my street a few doors down. I watched both crews and didn't see differences in materials or instillations. The materials were delivered by the same company, same brands...can't speak any more than that because I don't know warranties, etc

But, bottom line of my thought yesterday...if it's a Mexican crew they'll be gone by dinner time.

Roof on?

Oh yeah! They were done a little before 4:00pm. And I'm talking done with the roof, cleaned up ALL debris, and gone. And when they cleaned up, they used a blower for the little stuff. And that means they also blew all the leaves off the back patio, front porch, sidewalk, and driveway. Now I don't have to do it, lol.

Also, I kept all the leftover stuff.
5 sheets of 5/8" OSB
4 packs of shingles
4 rolls of underlayment
1 attic to roof vent for a bathroom (there's not a vent in either bathroom, though; but they both have a window).
1lb box of 2-1/2" nails

If you park near the house, keep an eye out for nails, devilish flat tire makers.
