Indiana didn't break the bank and now playing on Monday for championship.

Mark Cuban would like a word with you. 😛 They gave Mendoza over 2 million, hard to break the bank when you have a billionaire backing the program.
I've seen 60 million and more tossed around as the amount he gave IU. "Breaking the bank." Subjective, isn't it? What would break ones bank won't dent another's.

Like it or not, Auburn is backed by the richest, and only billionaire in the state (Yeller Feller). Look for them to start making some more of these big NIL deals in the near future. They just paid Byrum Brown 4.4 million along with getting 12 other players from UCF. Sound familiar? Cignetti + JMU in year 1. I'm not saying they'll pull an Indiana, but they seem to be following the same playbook. Next year will show signs if it's successful for them or not.
Just because they have the only billionaire doesn’t mean he will spend the money.

Hiring a HC that is in demand is a death wish for the AD. That coach is going to demand and set the terms of the buyout and not the AD. You would think a 5-year deal at 11 million per year and a 3-year buyout of 30 million would be enough. Trying to get both sides with skin in the game is impossible on the so-called top candidates.

Does Kalen's contract have the clause to where when he gets another gig then those dollars subtract from what is owed? That has to happen as well as paying the owed amount in payments until complete. If those terms can't be met, then you might want to reconsider your candidate.

Yeah, a coach in demand is a dangerous deal. Cristobal and Cignetti are about to be in a situation where they both will likely, but definitely one be able to call the shot on their next contract with any school.

Cole Cubelic asked him about his NIL donation(s) after the game against Oregon the other night... paraphrasing here, but Cuban said he asked Scott Dolson (IU AD) what the biggest donation Indiana had ever received and before Dolson answered Cuban said, "because I'll double it." He went on to say that the enjoyment he's getting out of watching IU win at this level equals his enjoyment of watching the Mavs win the NBA title in 2011.

Basically, these billionaires like him and the Texas Tech dude (Cody Campbell) are playing the role of team owner with no salary restrictions and trying to buy championships for their own enjoyment. When you really just think about it for a minute, it's kinda unbelievable.

I mean, who can blame him. Indiana is creating a narrative and throttling everybody while doing it. he can say he assisted in building that. these billionaires love building things and creating value. Rolex's and Ferrari's only sustain their happiness for so long, but their wealth is above all of that materialistic stuff, they want a legacy.

Cuban at Indiana
Phil Knight at Oregon
Cambell at TT
Ohio State is a little different, they don't have one big donor, just a bunch of ex-players and boosters. C.J. Stroud, Mike Conley, Cardale Jones and Real estate guru Brian Schottenstein.
John Ruiz at Miami.
Texas is a collective called Texas One Fund. No telling how much is poured into that.

And they have a ton of alumni... several of those B1G schools do... passing the collection plate gets mega funds.

I don't blame him, I just hate that the system is set up in such a way that it's allowed.

I guess money will make you do some crazy shit, like move to Lubbock. 😛 Never, ever thought to myself whenever I've been to Lubbock like, geez this is a nice place, thinking about moving here, but again, no one has ever offered me 4.4 million a year to do it. Might change my mind or at least give it some serious consideration. 😛;)

I don't see how we trust these numbers. Who knows how much TTU spent before July 1st of last year? Technically, since there wasn't any accounting in place there are no records to how much schools spent from January through June.

I'm not doubting they are listing the schools who spent more than average last season.

Wexner, can't think of his first name. Victoria's Secret. Bath and Body. (Been linked with Epstein on another note.) Dude has so much money his wife made a donation to the athletic department as a gift to him...worth around 8 billion or so.
