🏈 2026 Alabama Roster Management Chart and Portal news

This is what kills me. Winning teams usually have an experienced QB and veteran leadership at every position. How are teams today supposed to find veteran leadership? No one wants to stay and earn more experience. Incidentally, the reason Indiana is so good is that their roster is filled with veterans at every position. I don't expect Bama to be very good next year, despite the talent infusion from the portal, because it takes time for a team to gel and become elite. Give me a veteran team over an uber talented team any day.
I don’t agree. If Bama can combine experience from the portal with the current younger guys on the roster, Bama will have a playoff roster. The way I see it, Bama likely improves the run game and also the receiver room will likely improve as well. QB play potentially could improve.Mack has been with Deboer 3 years now.

Re: the Vols and Simpson, they absolutely were wanting him. I look at it similar to the situation we saw with OSU and UM waniting DeBoer... they made it clear they would take him off Bama's hands... doesn't mean it was going to happen. But Ty had plenty of options.
Yea, he wasn't going to be in the transfer portal had he decided to stay IMO. Bama would've locked up Russell for one more year and let Mack walk if that were the case. In Ty's shoes, I think the NFL is the best chance. Hopefully he'll get drafted late 1st or 2nd and get drafted to a team that doesn't need immediate QB play so he has time to heal and develop. Either way, hard to pass up the possibility of a fully guaranteed deal in the 1st which is likely where he'll end up.

JMO all the other teams will be facing the same issues as Bama as far and experience. The days of having a 2 deep roster of really good players on the offense and defense are OVAH. You will struggle to get 55 really solid players now. JMO but I would setup a off the field group that did nothing but watch FCS Division 1 teams hoping to evaluate potential backups of the backups. You need practice players. Hell #23 RB for Montana State is twice the RB we put on the field this year.

DJ Chester and Wilkin Formby - Signed with TAMU today so people are expressing that Peak is likely between Alabama and South Carolina (He's at USC today and Bama tomorrow.

On Coleman - Texas Tech signed their 3rd WR of the portal already, I don't know that they'd care if Coleman was an option but right now Coleman still hasn't shown up for his visit there...I still think the real battle is between Alabama and TAMU for him.

Jaccarius Peak is ongoing but looks good for Bama if he shows up on Thursday and leaves USC without signing the chances increase a lot that he'll be in crimson next year IMO

I'm glad DJ chester didn't come to Alabama. Get Peak and I'm okay with staff being selective going forward.

Bama saw Chester as a OG, similar to Formby he wanted to play OT instead. Probably why he went to TAMU with Formby their RPO system doesn't require as much pure pass blocking scenarios.

I would've much rather had Peak also, and I think there will be better options than Chester around the corner maybe even this weekend after the semifinal games we may see a lot of portal movement and Bama will be very active.

I wish Ty Simpson the very best as he opens another chapter in the book of life.
I am not sure we ever got to the point where we saw the high point of Ty. The injury was unfortunate to Ty and Bama. Both tailed off at that point. JMO but Bama asked too much of the QB this year. We won due to Ty and lost because he couldn't hit the mark on those days. Hope he is able to make an NFL roster as well as money. He handled himself well.

Just damn. Shame what football has become imo. Mercenaries instead of brothers.

You have to keep in mind some of these guys were told they were not going to fit well into the plans. I mean just on the OL specifically, UA had 3 spots open up automatically... the guys behind them on the depth chart then bolt? A revamp was coming.

And this, in year 3, is now going to be 90%+ DeBoer guys. For better or worse, this will be the roster he, Morgan, and Welton have built. That means results have a heavier weight to them. Here's to hoping they are making the right moves... on and off the field.

So, reports on Chester from TAMU side seem to be incorrect. He has not signed, he showed up for his visit to MSST today and will be at Alabama tomorrrow still @Justneedme81, sorry I guess he's a possibility still. IMO I think we still see him as an OG or depth piece we shall see.
I think Chester need a year to develop and work on his technique. His performance at center was not good. Maybe he'll be better at V
Guard.

IMO, Ty has the potential to be a good, not great, NFL QB. We’ve seen the offensive struggles Alabama’s offense had this last year. With the right coaching (both preparing for the draft and once he’s with a team) he can do very well.

Am I sensing some concern and doubt? Performance the last two years will do that to people that know what greatness looks like and know the core prinicipals/structure that creates that greatness.

Maybe some concern... had some concern(s) this time last year too... some were eased over the course of the season, some were not. How I feel I guess... the clock is ticking on getting things right if this is going to be a long term hire. I think it can be done but I don't know if it well. It's not always as simple as it appears from the outside looking in, especially these days.

And by "get it right" I don't mean winning the national title every other season... that shit ain't happening. I am talking more about high level consistency on the field week to week. The occasional loses are going to be there still, but the major letdowns must evaporate.

It is understandable to have concerns regarding certain aspects of the season. This time last year, I was not happy with how they handled the portal. I'm happy we got few players that worked out for the team, but the way they managed the portal and how we had so many misses. I wasn't feeling confident after that. But this time I feel different. You can tell they're operating with urgency in the portal, being aggressive and it helped because we got five players. Last year we probably would've had two by now.

The hiring of Nix is enough to move a needle. I want to see more changes within the program before I can say we are trending in right direction. Anything that can be improved over this season by 50 percent, I'll be happy.

“I am talking more about high level consistency on the field week to week. The occasional loses are going to be there still, but the major letdowns must evaporate.” You are in my head!!! And if we could run the ball effectively. Like be able to run and and really run the clock out to win a game.
