| MBB/WBB đźŹ€ 2024-25 Pre-season - Tide opens the season Monday night

We had a similar thread last year, and like it, I will update this one with the movement as it happens and next season's roster takes shape. Obviously, all the players in red that are set to return, won't. And others will be added via the portal. But I'll keep this updated and keep track of it as it all unfolds. As always, let me know of any errors/mistakes.

Also, keep in mind, there are 13 scholarship spots available per season. As of now, Alabama is +2 (15 scholarshipped players), which means at a minimum, 2 of the following will not return.

The crazy thing is (and I know it's been talked about)... If you just woke up from a long coma and saw those highlights, you'd be thinking, "wow, this team is gonna be incredible..." Then someone says to you, "well, 4 really good players, including 3 who will be starters didn't even suit up..."
Yeah it's wild as shit. Oats and the staff have their work cut out for them when it comes to rotation.

We've talked a lot about Philon and Holloway battling it out. Think about Nelson and Stevenson fighting at 4. Just an insane amount of depth.

I think Stevenson played some at 5, which Sherrell will take that slot when Cliff subs out.

I'm in a different country for at least four months, so it'll be hard to watch some of the games and/or participate in any game threads (which I guess is a good thing). But I'll be cheering hard when I get the chance to watch some games.
You can probably find someone live streaming the games on YouTube.

Memphis vs Alabama - Tonight 7pm CST

ESPN+ is the streaming platform.

Have to have a Disney+ or Hulu Subscription or ESPN + Subscription to watch it I believe. If you don't have one check out

Maybe they'll have it streaming there, or Youtube.

I'll be there in person tonight.

At the game. Sears has put on a show. A lot of rotation. The center seems to be the real deal. Big body… these guys get up amd down the court. During warm up 3 point shots are like free throws to Sears. Crazy how smooth he is. Surprised he has played so much but maybe Oats is giving him a lot of playing time since he is from Northwest Alabama.

Memphis must've asked for the inability to foul out then they literally foul on 75% of the possessions for Bama. They'd have 4 guys fouled out nearly 7 minutes late in the game at this point.

I wouldn't reschedule Memphis again, Hardaway has his team essentially playing "hack a player" instead of letting them play the game or run their offense. It's one of those physical games where they could probably have another 10-15 fouls but because the refs are unwilling to call it correctly Bama's getting hit with "ticky tack" calls while Memphis is full on bodying people.

Flow of the game has been awful, just a ton of stop and starts with fouls everywhere. Some justified, some not.

One good thing that will, or should, come from it... these younger (and transfers) players will now have a feel for what it's like to play the Vols and auburn, where the play is very physical and has caused Bama troubles in the past.

Nearly 100 Free Throws and one guy on Memphis had 8 fouls, another had 7, another 6, and 2 more with 5. Not discounting their effort but we only had 1 person foul out on our side. It was clear Memphis' game plan was to use that to their advantage. They went hard and fouled hard on any and all shots.

Hard to argue that had the game been called normally Memphis would've been run out the building, though I'm not happy with us missing so many free throws. We hit half the ones we missed we'd have another 10 points to add to the total.

Yeah they win by double digits if they simply cut misses in half. Also, in the 2nd half they got back into the unable to defend without fouling.
