| RECRUIT đź–‹ 2022~Early Signing Period.đź–‹

@Brandon Van de Graaff @TerryP

What's the word on Hall, Cormani, Ricks as of now?
Jordan Hall, defensive lineman? Long time Bama fan, but the Tide was late getting in on him. Sure looks UGA to me.
Cormani? Nothing since I posted yesterday...and then it was due to angst from Miami's staff versus hearing positive news from UA.
Ricks? More smoke.
I don't know. If I ever hear anything that I believe to be solid, I'll usually post it... but recruiting has become a fool's hobby IMO. 15 years ago, I followed it really closely. Now, it's more of a view from 25,000 feet and I don't give it much attention until after the class is signed... but still nothing like I used to. Info used to change month to month, sometimes week to week. Now it's hour to hour and minute to minute... like a damn sports soap opera. It is fun though to enjoy the cake after it's baked.
Do you like the ingredients?
Do you like "how the cake was made?"

Saban made the comment—much like he did with "is this what you want football to be"—that they (UA staff) were going to take the gloves off this season. As compared to what? A&M last year? Sure. What was happening with "players" like UT and Miami? Again, yes.

"If recruiting is going to be played this way, we're taking the gloves off."

How did Alabama manage to sign this class? If people are upset about the stories we heard about A&M, and are hearing across the collegiate football world this recruiting period, they should be equally upset about how this class came to be. Alabama is in the pay to sign and play game.

I’m one of those people. The difference to me is Saban/Bama signed many number one classes long before NIL came into being. A&M and Fisher had not … their class last year came out of the blue. And their 2023 class isn’t even in the top 10. Winning still matters to a lot of recruits. Sure Bama’s playing the pay game but I do not think Saban plays it like Fisher did/does. Saban considers a recruit’s character as an important factor … Fisher has none so I seriously doubt he cares whether a recruit does.

As Saban said, you wanted this, not the other way around. He has proven again and again if you change the rules, he will change his path and ganeplan to do the same, and still win. I freaking love the mentality. "We want fairness and college football to stay as pure as possible, but if you allow us to flex our muscle, we're gonna beat you and not feel bad about it."

My only issue with A&M last year was that Jimbo lied about it. What they did was within the rules (for the most part I assume), but him trying to lie and say it was more about him and the school and they didn't pay is what made me call him out.

@Crimson&WhiteGecko and I were talking about this recently off the board (specifically re: the duo out of Montgomery). It was a matter of when, not if, once nothing was getting done about it after Saban's public (and private) complaints. We've got the usual 'touched in the head' suspects like Hayes making comments like the one below, when it just highlights that they've missed the point yet again... Saban's open complaints also come with warning labels.

And I can be a big cynic as well as anyone else. . .

But I know this much, Saban know's how to win & build the right culture in the locker room. A TRUE TEAM is what still wins championships & the fickleness of teens/young adults is just being exploited w/ much of the NIL. If anyone knows how to keep the winning perspective, it's CNS. Other programs that just throw money at recruits in the NIL are going to look more & more & more like last years A&M.

Turns out coaching still matters, no matter how much money a player gets. . . See the NFL as exhibit A.

Ricks is today. No date on CM.
You hear anything on Dippre? I haven't heard much since he got offered, but signing day has drowned out most transfer rumors and information.

Saw this tweet about him narrowing down his 2 schools, but haven't seen who he picked? Can't seem to find anything and don't know anyone who knows anything about the kid.
