Ryder SP faced 4 batters in the 6th, threw just 6 pitches to get the 3 outs. I don't understand UA's approach most of the time, or if they even have one.

He finally got some (not much) run support. He could be the staff's ace next year if the bats can show up when he pitches.
He'd be the ace if he came back, but I'll be really surprised if he doesn't sign with whoever drafts him.

RUSTON, La. – Alabama starter Dylan Smith picked up the win in a complete game effort as the Crimson Tide downed Rider, 3-1, in the elimination round of the NCAA Ruston Regional on Saturday afternoon. The win moves UA to 32-25 on the season and 1-1 in Regional play.
Smith (2-8) tossed his first career complete game and Alabama's first since 2019. The junior allowed one run on seven hits with seven strikeouts across a career-high 116 pitches. Smith received three runs of support, two of which came from William Hamiter. The sophomore finished 1-for-4 with his lone hit being a go-ahead, two-run home run in the seventh.
Rider jumped out front early with a single run in the top of the first. The Tide answered in the second on an RBI-double from Caden Rose. Smith then kept the Broncs off the board as his offense tried to gain the advantage. The breakthrough came in the seventh when Hamiter sent the first pitch he saw over the wall in right to give UA a 3-1 lead, the eventual final.

He gave up one run – which we probably could have made a play there in the first to keep that from happening – but he was just outstanding. - B2 | Drew Williamson drew a walk to give the Tide a two-out baserunner. Williamson came home in the next at-bat on a Caden Rose double to right to even things up. (1-1)

Postgame Notes
- Dylan Smith tossed his first career complete game. It was the Crimson Tide's first complete game since Sam Finnerty against South Carolina in game one of the doubleheader on April 5, 2019.
- Smith tossed a career-high 116 pitches in the win. His previous high for pitches was 111 against Missouri on May 5 of this season. Smith picked up the win in that start against the Tigers, as well.
- The junior struck out seven and has punched out five or more batters in 14 of his 16 starts this season.
- The seven strikeouts set Smith at 113 for the season, good for third on the Alabama single-season list. He trails only Bobby Sprowl in 1977 (118) and Wade LeBlanc in 2006 (128).
- Smith did not issue a walk in his start for the seventh time this season.
- Alabama has totaled 19 comeback wins in 2021.

Going to the 4th, Tech up 6-5. This is basically just a HR derby.
Going to the 6th, Bama down 9-5. Game is on SECN for those interested. I thought it was streaming only.
Tide drops it 10-8, season done. They made it really interesting in the 9th... Praytor missed a game-tying HR by a few feet (foul) and Denton missed a game tying double by about 1 foot.

Bo needs to take a week away from the bats and balls and then take a good look at his pitching staff roster. There is some folks taking up space that don't need to be there. These last 6 games or so should really be used by the staff as a evaluation on which guys actually have any potential to make the team MUCH better. Not improved but MUCH better. We'll see.

RUSTON, La. – A wild back-and-forth baseball game between Alabama and 20th-ranked Louisiana Tech came down to the final at-bat with the Bulldogs holding on for the 10-8 victory. The loss ended the Crimson Tide's run in the NCAA Ruston Regional and set UA at 35-26 on the season.
The two teams traded runs through the first three frames, with Louisiana Tech taking an early 1-0 lead after a half inning. Alabama answered with two in the home half of the first, but the Bulldogs came right back with a pair of runs to regain the lead. The Tide answered again, this time with one run in the bottom of the second to knot it up at three apiece. Louisiana Tech posted three in the top of the third with UA countering for two in the home half before Tech added three to the lead in the fourth.
Alabama struck for one in the sixth, but Tech got that run right back in the top of the seventh. The two teams would go scoreless until the ninth, with Alabama battling for two runs. The Tide reached the tying run and brought the go-ahead run to the plate with two down but a deep fly ball to the warning track was caught to end the rally and end the game at 10-8.
The Crimson Tide bats took part in Sunday's home run derby that saw the two teams combine for seven roundtrippers. Homering for UA was Sam Praytor, Zane Denton and Jackson Tate. Praytor and Denton each tallied a team-high two RBI apiece with Praytor leading UA in runs, contributing a pair on the day. Tate tied with Bryce Eblin for the team lead in hits with two on the afternoon while Eblin recorded a double to add to his stat line.

"This group gave us everything they had. We've had more than our share of adversity with guys being hurt. We had a lot of inexperienced players playing, and we were asking some guys to do some things that maybe they weren't quite ready to do or equipped to do – play some different positions, pitch in some different roles than maybe they were ready for – and they stayed together. They stayed together, gave us everything they had, and when things didn't go well, they didn't make excuses or point fingers. - B9 | Eblin singled to start the ninth. A fielding error one out later allowed Jim Jarvis to reach and put two on for Peyton Wilson. The Tide leadoff man drew a walk to load the bases before a passed ball advanced everyone 90 feet. A 4-3 groundout from Hamiter brought in one more run and put a runner at third. Praytor drew a walk to reach the tying run but a flyout to the warning track from Denton capped the scoring and ended the UA rally. (10-8, Louisiana Tech)

- Alabama's 32 wins are the program's most since 2016 when UA won 33 games.
- The Crimson Tide won a game in an NCAA Regional for the first time since 2014.
- Alabama advanced to the Friday round of the SEC Tournament for the first time since 2015.
