"As a side note on the Scam Newton deal, a buddy and I were at the gym working out and I noticed a guy come in wearing a Mississippi State shirt. Since they are SEC and I now live in Austin, we got into a conversation about the SEC and how we thought each team would be next year (I, naturally, had on my Georgia gear). I found out he was a linebacker in the Herschel and Bo days and that he was very connected in the MSU boosters. It came up about Scam and he said the booster at MSU that offered Scam the 180k was a close friend of his and that yes, it was offered for Scam to play there. Said Scam was only going to play where he was offered money to play. He said after Scam visited Auburn, he called up his buddy and told them, "Thanks for being so good to him and for offering that, but Auburn has just offered more than they can refuse." Thus Scam backed off MSU and went to Auburn. TIFWIW."
