šŸˆ Auburn is now a Nike school

In case you missed it, which most people did, as of July 1 Auburn is now a Nike school.
Interestingly enough, I've seen reports/threads about this for several days. I've skimmed through the reports looking for contract details and haven't come across anything as of yet.

On that note, I skimmed the AL.com article. You can't make this shit up.

ā€œIt has a very sharp V seam on the chest and like a large cowcatcher collar,ā€ Richardson added when explaining the jersey design. ā€œYou don’t see a lot of teams go with a blank collar with Nike. They always tend to add a logo to the middle of the front collar.ā€

Other than it being a 10-year contract, nothing has been released about the money aspect. It was interesting to see that the last Under Armour contract update included $10 million in UA stock which has since tanked in value.

I had forgotten about that until the Nike deal hit the newswires. The last time I'd look (as in on purpose) that 10 had lost 8.6. It's now worth 1.25 million dollars according to On3.

I don't have a lot of interest in this but I have to admit the thought of Bama becoming a Jordan brand? That's something that would fire up the fan base ... don't seen any possibility of that being pretty.

(Hell, let's go back to Champion, or Russell, and call it a day.)

IMO, there’s no value in the Jordan brand. It’s made by Nike. Same materials, same cut. Why would it make sense for a basketball heritage to be of benefit to football, baseball, swimming, soccer, track & field, gymnastics or any other sport?

I suspect it's the opposite; there is value in the Jordan brand monetarily just to start. It's the premium brand and it sure seems like it would pay more. I do know there is more flexibility (catered to specific school, specific sport.)

On the basketball note? It would be the basketball program taking another step forward though in a more subtle move. Soccer?

Give me a pair of All-Stars I can blow out on the asphalt courts outside the old high school gym ... šŸ™ƒ

I believe you can see it would be yet another "selling point" about UA Athletics?

You're wrong. Jordan brand would most definitely fire up the fanbase, bring in the younger generation dropping hundreds and thousands on that specific brand each month/year. I doubt the Nike check has the older generation or middle generation running to the stores at release time.

I have four kids and can tell you in 2025 alone I have spent $1026 on Jordan releases this year. Could probably double that if you added apparel. I actually just spent $125 yesterday on Jordan hoodies and shorts for my two youngest daughters. You give me what I've seen with Michigan at Alabama and I can promise you that number would willingly triple. Alabama colorways would have us paying above retail. That's with three girls too.

And, other than making the secondary sports more $ from the deal, it would have no impact on baseball, softball, etc. They'd still use the Nike logo, Nike apparel, etc.
