Define "good seat." It's a pretty big stadium with a lot of good viewing points. Shade areas will go fast. You'll still be able to find a seat with 30 minutes to go.

Looking for a lower level, 30 rows up or lower. That's a good seat. I don't want shade.

There's a lot of activity leading up to the game. I believe the alumni 7-on-7 flag game starts at 11:30 and goes to 12:30. Then there's a gap until the game. If you don't mind just hanging out, that will give you access to a good seat. IMO, if you enter the stadium 1 hour before the game you should have plenty of options.

Best seat in the house IMHO, is North End Zone upper deck Row 1 or 2 right beside the end zone camera well. I say it is the best seat because, 1) I'm a former HS coach and I like to see pre snap alignments and possible audible calls, and 2) those have been my seats for the last 7-8 years off and on. I'm a former walk on, so taking a beating has a privilege or two!!

On your way down I-65, take the I-565 exit at Decatur and travel the 15 miles east to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville. Well worth the time. Welcome to Alabama. The BBQ alone in this state is enough to make you want to stay here.

Also you can get off I-65 exit 282 Warrior/Jasper....take a right and pull into Wayne's Package Store, if it's around 7 a.m. Friday morning, there's a good chance I'll be stocking up with some all natural beverages for the weekend.

If you have the scratch, 5, Cypress Inn, and City Cafe are pretty killer.

Have you been to Cypress Inn lately? It’s a shell of its former self (pretty much since the day the original owner sold it 2-3 years ago).

I actually haven't been in about three years to be honest. I had no idea they sold it. It was always terrific when we went though. I know ESPN used to have their Friday night dinners there when they had Gameday in town. I always enjoyed their shrimp and grits and their white BBQ chicken.

I heard the guy that sold it owns the Levee restaurant (by Dreamland on the river), but yeah, Cypress Inn has definitely changed. I have several friends who enjoyed it as much as my wife and I, and they won’t eat there anymore either. Kinda sad.

Food quality. I never had a bad meal there for years, then about 3 years ago ordered a steak. Horrible. I can’t remember if it was supposed to be a ribeye or a strip, but it was cooked well done and was an awful piece of meat regardless. Went back maybe 3-4 more times after that, and each time, the meals were never up to their original standards. My wife’s company used to have lunch there every month for the employees who had birthdays, they quit going as well. I know some who won’t go because of the shooting incident a few months back, but I don’t care about that. It’s Tuscaloosa, you gotta brave the bullets to get food around here.

At least we still have the diners—Northport and 15th—unless he's sold those as well?

No, but my wife has and she enjoyed it. As for the diners, 15th St Diner is now apartments/condos. Northport Diner is now the Blue Plate Diner.
