🏈 Wild Cat offense was.....

The pistol was very effective on the play action calls. I liked it, and hope we continue to see it.

I felt the same way. Greg looked very comfortable in it as well. The offense was starting to get in rhythm at the end of the 2 quarter. O line started to gel as well.

Regardless of its effectiveness last night, I like that we ran the wildcat and the pistol against a good defense and now have plenty of "game speed" film to look at and evaluate. It's versatile another arrow in the quiver that future opponents need to concern themselves with.

Bingo. They are setting it up nicely.

I disagree. You don't continue to set something up in a game you are losing. If something was going to happen out of it we would have seen it last night. I don't buy into the whole settin something up for teams down the road when this team is one of the top 3 teams you will see all year.

We were losing yes...but by only one point...and much of it was us just giving them gifts in the form of free points. We were far from desperate enough to pull everything we have out of our pocket. They may be one of the best teams we'll play this year, but that doesn't mean you use what you don't have to use.

First time we ever set up in this formation. I expect it will help us at some point down the road. I predict we will get better as the year goes. IMHO, multiple formations are a good thing. Confuses the Defense, allows you to get better at it, and if you scrap it, you wasted valuable time in practice perfecting it. I am sure they will look at the game tapes and figure ways of running it with success. Establishing a running game is key to opening up the offense. We have the weapons to run it successfully.

TerryP;515259 I've yet to see an explanation of your rant last night about us losing a blocker. 11 on 11...10 on 10... Fact still remains said:
Well, that's an easy explanation. I never said we lost a blocker. We lost a player. Players can do things other than block. You need look no further than all of my posts our Pork Chop's #4 on his blog to understand why Alabama's 3 Legged Wildcat won't work at the college level & above.

It would be just like splitting playtime at QB 50/50 with passing QB & an option QB. When Passer leaves the field & Runner trots on, the D says, "RUN!!" & they key on the run & most likely stop it.
