🏀 What will the excuses be for the basketball team next year if UA keeps Grant?

This is year five. There should be no more excuses!

If there are a lack of players or talent, that falls on the shoulders of the man in charge - who is making 2+ million per season to make sure those things don't happen.

The talent that this Alabama team has is little and will be gone after this year. Coache's job to make sure he can put the best team on the floor and at least be in the runnin at end of year. Grant has not led this team and created a winning combination for survival in the SEC. What makes anyone think it will change after 5 years. Wish I could just choke it up as a bad year but I see the writing on the wall with Grant. Bill please look and make this change for the University.
ROLL TIDE ROLL

PJ, I think if they keep Grant I'm not going to be able to watch next year. I'm a faithful fan, and I've watched all but two games this year. I know the outcome, ultimately, and I have to say it's lots of wasted time.

I like Anthony Grant. He conducts himself like a gentleman, and looks to be a good guy. BUT, we should have made the tournament this year, considering what we returned from a team that narrowly missed the tournament last year. Releford, Randolph, and Jacobs should have been good enough to atleast keep us above .500, and the others should have given us enough edge in this conference to make the tournament. Alabama needs to come into Atlanta and start recruiting the talent here. Everyone else in the country comes in and gets them, so Alabama should be able to. We may not be a Duke, Kansas, North Carolina, or Michigan State, but we can offer just as much as they can as far as education, facilities, and a chance to go to the NBA. Let's face it, you can go to any school in this country and make the NBA after one year, IF YOU HAVE THE TALENT. It's not the school, and in most cases the coaching that one year that makes the man. You just have to be relentless in your pursuits and get some talent.

Bill King on XM says we need to hire Bruce Pearl. Obviously a risky move, but the guy has won everywhere he's been, and big. Maybe create a contract with stipulations about cheating and being unethical that would cripple him financially and professionally if he is caught? I don't see Grant being here much longer because it's up and down under him instead of being stable, but I like the guy. Sometimes that's not enough, because we all want to see results.

I can't help but wonder how different things would be had he not lost a good portion of the guys he's signed.

I can't see that much of a difference. Gueye (sp?) and Engstrom, interchangeably average at best and are both dependable to be blocked out for rebounds by guys shorter than they. Grant gave a lot of ground to Lacey last year; in fact, he let him take the last shot in a crucial game at the end of the season. Obasahon's defensive play is not a step backward from Lacey's, either. Pollard...I think Taylor is playing a lot better than Pollard did last year.

I can definitely see where depth is an issue, esp. with Engstrom, but no so much that has caused Bama to have a losing season.

This is easy.

1) The recruiting class will fall apart! Nevermind that it's really not that great. It's a good class for Bama standards, but we don't have a prospective 1 and done player or anyone close to that.

2) Bama can't get anyone better! Nevermind that the previous coach was better than Grant and we've had numerous other coaches who are better.

3) He's been unlucky with all of the transfers! What player with any NBA potential would want to play in this offense?
