🏈 What should we expect from VT?

Last year I was told that I should fear the running backs of Clemson. Truth be told I was worried about the game before it started and had resigned that if Bama did lose it would be early in the season. So what is it that I should worry about with VT? I have heard a lot about special teams. What is there to expect from VT? Should I keep that level of worry or nervous energy(I fear that being confident about the game could somehow jinx it)? On the other hand I feel like a bad fan playing the low expectations game.

The Defense is supposed to be pretty tough. The offense is out to turn it around after an awful showing last year. And yes the special teams are good mainly because of the speed.

VT special teams are a big deal to them, and they excelle at it. Their defense kind of goes up and down over the years, but it looks to be an up trend. Their offense is a major weak point for them. Last season they ranked very low in offense production. Their top performers were a freshman tailback, and I believe two frehman wrs. Their QB Taylor is athletic, of course, but not a very dependable passer. His stats are not anything to concern many defenses. I believe in the Manning Passing camp, Taylor graded out very low.

Our defense is built to stop the run. VT is run first. I think our weakest point on defense is the secondary. See above comments on Taylor.

The real show will be our offense vs their defense. Can we get on the same page with our new guys in a real game. Is VT defense what we areled to believe? If so, this is where the game will be settled.

Looking more closely at VT's defense, they are small by SEC standards across the front, but pretty speedy. My thought is that we'll have trouble running on the edge because of that, but should be able to use our size and strength to run inside effectively. If we are unable to establish the run then their speed will really come into play in the pass rush.

IMO their offense will have a very tough time running the ball on us, and they will have to show me that they can throw well enough to back our safeties off the LOS.

Beamer is legendary for his special teams. Ours should be pretty good as well.

I see a fairly comfortable win for us, though not a Clemson style blowout.
